I have had and used Samsung SPH I700 (not so good) Audiovox( UTstarcom) PPC 6600 (so so, not too bad, terrible camera). HTC P4000 ROCKS. I love the profile, sound quality, speed and ease of use. the only complaint or comaprison between the previous ones is the DPAD and dialing. I liked how right Dpad would launch the call history and down would open the speed dial in samsung and audiovox. I guess with P4000 and it's extra goodies, I just have to get used to the using menue and or the voice dialing feature. better yet, I'll get Microsoft voice command reinstalled in it and now I would have the best.

Fairly easy to work - can't figure how to put it on speaker yet and cannot find a manual anywhere!!!!

Phone works great -good reception even in tougher places - awesome camera. again lots of features but no manual to find out how to use.

Voice command not as nice as Motorola - as far as I can figure you have to enter each name tag in instead of just saying a name and it asking for which number you want.

Theres my ramble... anyone have any answers

Does anyone have any opinions on how this compares to the Palm Treo (650, 700wx or 700p)?

Does anyone have any more feedback on this product, positive or negative? I will most likely get one tomorrow.

In the past, I know many people, like I, did the very same...every time I'd buy a new phone, I'd think "aw man, did I make the right choice?" and second guess myself constantly. But even though this being a much more expensive purchase, am still 100% confident in my decision. It's simply that much better. The reception remains constantly strong and VERY clear. If you recently purchased a PDA and can still exchange it, I strongly suggest you try the HTC P4000. That is, if you don't have a problem with these two cons:

One thing that severely pissed me off was how Telus did not have the proper specs for the damn thing. First of all, the ram isn't at 128, nor is it at 64, as I indicated earlier, it's at 48, and this is why this phone did NOT come with the new windows mobile 6. With it's current windows mobile 5 loaded, I only have 20.1mb of ram (out of the 48) to play around with... now that unfortunately SUCKS!! This is definitely the phone's biggest downfall. After building such a great little gadget and having the ability to throw all competition out the door...Why...whhhyyy in all of the sun's energy they couldn't bring it up to at least 64mb is beyond Even my big brain's capability to understand.

The only other con is basically not from the gadget itself. I blame this one on telus. This genius piece of gadgetry came with a gps-ready system... but as usual, telus had to disable at least one function on the phone and the GPS system was it. So, the phone being GPS capable is unable to perform that task thanks to telus.

As for windows mobile 6, you may be right about it having better management and it does only require a min 32mb or ram to run but it is recommended to have 64.

But hey, I was wrong, this thing does have 64. So there really aren't any complaints about this PDA over others. so....

Anyway best phone/PDA I have ever owned and I would highly recommend it. One app I find very useful and telus must hate is Phone dashboard, it keeps track of minutes used in peak, weekend, off-peak and warns when you are close to exceeding contracted minutes.

You mention an app called the Phone Dashboard, is this another piece of software? Or is it included in the phone? If another piece of software, where can I get it?

with respect to the phone I just got mine a couple of days ago. So far I am really enjoying it the voice quality is a lot better than I expected and the reception is really good even in bad locations.

The one thing that I hate is when the phone goes into sleep mode and when I go to use it again I have to hit the power button. I would be nice to just tap the screen to start everything.

Design is nice but reliability sucks.

I have had problems with the phone's OS crashing - it shows a bright white screen. The only way to recover is to pull the battery and start it back up. This seems to happen about once per day - I have had the phone 4 days so far. I have also once had the contacts program fail - trying to access my contacts shows a blank screen. Powering cycling the device fixed that.

I am not sure if I have a hardware problem or if the software is just flaky.

I will give Telus a chance to fix the issue first before I complain and follow up. I really want to keep this phone, but I need something more stable than the unit I have. When it works, it is a joy to use.

I am glad I didnt go with a blackberry or treo

I love it and can install lots of apps. I got magic button which help saves memory by really closing the running apps which you then wont have white screen freeze.

I also installed another app to manage my HTC and have a nice interface...

mine froze once or twice before I installed the Magic Button application which is free on the web.
get it, its worth it !!

Great reception, nice voice quality. Nice touch screen, nice everything.. I just love it !!
