Telus launches HTC P4000?
Word on the street is that the HTC P4000 has allegedly landed at Telus Mobility in Canada. Although a perusal of the Telus website showed no evidence of the P4000 being offered as of today, we'd love to see the HTC Titan P4000 show up in some Telus stores or in a customer's awaiting hand real quick. If you're in Canada and have spotted the P4000 for sale, drop us a comment, would'ja? We'd love to see an HTC unit with Windows Mobile 6, full QWERTY and EV-DO Rev. A speeds. Verizon Wireless and Sprint customers -- this may mean good news soon, yes?[Thanks PocketGear]

It was announced to dealers on Friday. Unfortunately it looks like it's shipping with WM5, not 6. I'm not sure why.
PiTT @ Apr 16th 2007 9:01PM
good ol dave evans from hofo already has one, so does one other user. looks like WM5 and Rev O, and promised upgrade to Rev. A in the future.

Isn't the HTC P4000 a CDMA version of the HTC P4350? Not the HTC TyTn?

It's def not the CDMA version of the TyTn. I don't know if it's the P4350 or not.
Supposedly the delay getting it to Sprint/Verizon is that they are waiting for Rev A (and hopefully WM6?)

There was a Telus flyer in today's paper. The HTC P4000 is $200 CND on a three year term.

I played with this device at a Telus store on the weekend, very nice! I liked the way the keyboard slid out and the feel of the keys was great. It's antenna does not protrude like most CDMA devices and specifically like the PPC6700. Suprisingly it was running WM5 and unfortunately it doesn't have GPS. I think I'm going to buy this one.

I have it, works ok, mp3s work great, slow browsing internet, freezes sometimes, m.s. makes it normal.
blue tooth jabra bt320s head set isnt loud enough to hear person at other end. MSI ft200 is the same.
Doesnt except divx movies on it. I also purchased a 2gig card. Still pretty cool device, text messaging is a breeze, voice tag is also easy to set up.
Got mine in Pickering town center, they have lots.

Cool Phone/PDA.
I got one on Friday and got the week end to play with it. I downloaded and install a bunch of apps for it and managed to crash it a few times... Just hit reset and your back in action after a 2 minutes reboot delay.
I think the CPU is still pretty slow for a DUAL core. there is really not that much storage for Applications on it, too bad. I haven't got it filled yet but i don't think it will take me too much time.
THere are a lot of Pocket PC apps out there for those devices but they are not all compatible with this processor.
Here are some good software addons:
WisBar Advance, MiniMo (mozilla mobile), Opera, Resco Today Plugin, Google Maps (WOW!!!).
I think the biggest PLUS with this device is the WIFI card. When ever I have wifi available I can use that to browse the internet, check my emails and more. All this without using any of the 4 MB (HAHAHA!!!) that comes bundled with the $25/Month data plan.
So far my only complaints are I can't call a house phone with Skype through WIFI. It connects but I can't hear or be heard. The phone portion of it works fine but it takes some getting use to, the buttons are soft keys. Another one, the "Y" adapter. This is probably the biggest flaw. To charge it, you can use the USB Power adapter or the power out of your computer's USB but you need to use the HTC Y adapter to interface between to regular MiniUSB and the proprietary HTC USB connection... WHY?
That's it for now...

I got one last week and so far I like it, but find that the vibrating feature isn't great. You can hardly feel it vibrate. As well, the earpiece volume is pretty low. The wi-fi feature is great!!
Just to respond to Frenchie's comment... I think the Y-adapter is only if you want to charge it and use the wired headset at the same time. I connect the device to my computer with the USB cable that came with my digital camera and it works just fine. Just a thought! :)

I am looking for a device that shows my calendar items on the main interface? i have the nokia 6265 and was looking at getting a PDA phone. does this have that feature, or do you have to go into the calendar to see the list of appointments?

I have a new HTC P4000 model TITA100 for sale. It was only used for maybe 3 weeks so the phone is brand new. Anyone interested? You can email me at hardworkingirl_78@yahoo.ca or call my cell at (403) 862-4429.

Here's the link for the upgrade to Mobile 6 that was provided by Telus support desk. It ends up in a dead end so far though. It leads you through a few steps to the HTC website which apparently contains no P4000 updates yet...
