Sneak peek at Sony Ericsson's Elena and Sophia?

Sony Ericsson, like Apple, has a faithful collective of rumor hounds chasing after tidbits on its newest handsets; while we're frequently skeptical (why all the blurry pics?) we do love 'em and the insight they occasionally provide. We've heard various bits and bobs about the M610i and K850i -- codenamed Elena and Sophia, respectively -- and judging by the shots above, they both are starting to look a little more legit. Specs are still unclear, though the word is the K850i will be packing a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, xenon flash, a metal body, and judging by the pic above, a really crazy-looking key layout. The M610i will apparently replace the M600i as a business users' handset and add a 3.2 megapixel cam to the mix, a feature sorely missed in the M600i. No prices, availability, or concrete specs yet, but we'll do our darndest to keep the updates flowing as we get them.

I sincerely hope that I'm not the only one who thinks the featured K850i looks like ass... and no Wi-Fi?!
Game over man. Game over.

The Sony Ericsson K-series has never been a smart phone, so why are you expecting wifi? I think the keys look pretty bad, but who knows if that's how they'll really look.

the sad truth: this sofia pictures are for real. the keys are tiny, the softkeys are touch only and the nav key is that funny rectangular. however the mechanics will be good enough to use them

Smartphone or otherwise, it'll still be squaring up against the N95. Just as the K800i juked it out with its nearest smartphone alternative, the N73. Sony Ericsson might employ it's own OS but it was still challenging those Symbian OS capabilities for shelf space.
Only this time I think Nokia has the edge... the GPS... AND the Wi-fi.
Did you see what I did there?... Pfft, well I thought it was funny. :o)
I atleast, am disappointed with the 'admittedly rumoured' spec sheet on this thing, and the fact that it looks truly hideous. (Although the merged D-Pad and Keypad is an interesting concept.) It just doesn't appear an upgrade worth waiting for... and we've yet to see the rehashed K810i with it's re-jigged veneer come and go before this thing even arrives. At which point the K850i and the N95 will likely sport parallel pricing.
In short, Sophia desperately needs a boob job.

1. Remember that the K800 successor will probably be 50% the price of the N95
2. My wife's K800 is on 24hrs a day with BT on and one battery charge gives her 3 days. SE design their phones to have a good battery life and therefore no WiFi or GPS in the middle-level K850. But will probably have HSDPA and therefore wifi not needed (well at least in Euro land).
