Verizon to bring LBS to PDAs
Are you tired of seeking out third-party nav applications for your Palm 700wx or Motorola Q? We hear you on that -- and it turns out Verizon does, too. Word has it that The Network is testing navigation service for PDA devices (a la VZW Navigator for dumbphones) and it should be available some time in the third quarter of this year. For everyone's sake, let's just hope it's made to support new and old devices alike.[Thanks, HTC Kid]

Palm sells a TomTom NAVIGATOR 6 kit for the Treo 700wx.

@Ed,
Yes, you're right. But I have no idea why you posted that since the article says "third-party nav applications for your Palm 700wx"

I wonder if this is the reason they disabled GPS in the 8703e to push for their own services.

Who cares. Verizon's GPS applications are overpriced and crappy. You only have access to their GPS, no Telenav, Garmin, Google Maps, nothing Java and nothing free.

you know what would be great on Verizon? some sort of "buddy finder" service, so I could see all my friend's locations on Google Maps or something similar. Especially complete with traffic info. That'd be hot.

My Moto Q doesnt even seem to have GPS capabilities (At least when I try using them w/ Windows Live or Google Maps for Windows Mobile).. Unless its just disabled.. No GPS is the biggest letdown on my Q - but I still love it anyway.

My fiancee wants a Q but when i saw that she could use VZ Nav (she's often lost), I decided to hold off and see if VZ ever wakes up.
