We know you're starting to get a little tired of the aerial on that
700p of yours; no, seriously, we feel your pain. You're looking longly at that
680 over there, but the leap over to Cingular -- and to GSM, for that matter -- can be a treacherous one indeed for some users. Happily, the
755p is coming just in time to save the day before you all go out of your gourds, and for a Garnet-based EV-DO piece, she's looking mighty purty. A reader wrote in to describe his recent brush with the 755p to us, and came away with the impression that it's slimmer, lighter, and easier to hold thanks to concave surfaces on the phone's sides. A couple launch keys on the front side have disappeared (leaving only two), the stylus is a little lighter, and although the camera is still a mere 1.3 megapixels, pictures are apparently of a much higher quality. Music to a weary 700p user's (or, better yet, a 650 user's) ears, eh? See you in the next couple months!
[Thanks, James]

This could be the last Access powered Treo if Palm gets acquired. Any words on whether there will be a Windows Mobile 6 powered 755W?
Daniel @ Mar 30th 2007 10:23AM
another incremental upgrade, eh? maybe they incorporated a GPS module for once?? here's to hoping ...

A WM6-powered 755W? Hmmm... the 750 is close enough, so let's just ask for a WM6 Treo 800 and call it good :) I'm all ready to jump ship and go to Cingular, but that Treo 750 leaves plenty to desire, even after it receives the WM6 upgrade (I still can't bear to look at 240x240 resolution; it could use another 64MB of memory; and let's not forget that 1200mAh battery and 1.3MP camera that can use an upgrade, too). Did I mention no GPS yet?
OGHowie @ Mar 30th 2007 2:53PM
Wait, so if the Treo 750 gets an upgrade to WM6 the resolution would stay the same even though WM6 supports higher res? Damn that sucks.

WM6 probably won't come until the Treo Hunter is released Q4. I got a piece of paper outlining Sprint's year in PDAs that I'm not supposed to have.
The Hunter is black, the send/end call buttons are vertical and the release comes nicely in line with the rollout of Sprint's WiMAX service. We can only hope this thing has WiMAX. Surely by Q4 it will have WM6.

Am I missing something? I still see the same number of keys on the front. The write-up says that 2 launch keys were removed.

Chris R, any way you could *cough* share with us some of the info from the sheet you're "not supposed to have?" *cough* Specifically, anything about the HTC s720 that was just announced?

why does everyone dog the garnet...I like it way better than windows mobile...anyone
JG_06 @ Apr 1st 2007 3:44PM
Jimmie48... I'm with you all the way. Garnet/Access/Palm OS is much more user-friendly than WM.
Robert_Vassar @ Apr 6th 2007 12:01AM
I am sticking with the 700p too. Windows Mobile is a mess. Waiting for the iPhone or maybe the Access Linux-based Palm OS.

CDMA Joe @ May 8th 2007 2:18PM
The tag line at the end should have been see you on May 14. And there will not be a WM version of the 755.
