For some odd reason -- and a most fortuitous one for us -- the rebate team never seems to quite get in sync with the launch team for a good percentage of handset launches, giving us tantalizing glimpses at the future of cellphones now and then, or at least a model name to go on. This time we've got all we could ask for out of this common snafu, since friendly tipster AJ managed to track down a rebate form for the much-rumored
Sidekick ID on T-Mobile's site that not only promises a handy $50 to whoever can navigate its tricksy questions, but also gives us a likely sounding April 18 launch date to mull over, along with our first full-on "press shots" of the phone. The cute, pared down exterior is further complemented by a selection of primary colors, as seen above, making this a likely pick for the budget-minded "I don't need no stinkin' EDGE data" fashionphone set. In fact, with prices like these ($99.99 after a $50 rebate), why not just buy 'em all to mix and match with your outfits? You know you want to.
[Thanks, AJ]

Yea this looks like a nice little device for a person who just cares about fashion and it looks like a great gift for a female but... the price will be a factor because most people already have cell phone contracts and this means that that beautiful $149.99 price ($99+50 mail in rebate = you still have to pay $149.99 when you buy the phone in the store). Now I'm just waiting to see how much this device will actually cost me outright so I can see if its worth the money. If it costs more than $200 its definitely not worth it, if it is under $200 then we'll definitely be talking...

this looks totally targeted at 9 year olds.
and it also makes me immediately think that it's a bootleg sk, like the equivalent of buying a gucci purse in the middle of chinatown.
downgrade!

I think it only looks childish because you're seeing all the colors at once. Any of them alone just look like the regular Sidekicks with a little color added to them. I can't wait until they change the form factor altogether (well maybe not the flipping, but at least the size/thickness) for something much better (ala rumors of a Sidekick X).

i heard at the tmobile store i work at that these colors on the picture are more brighter then in the real phone..the blue color in real person is the same color as the blue razr and the pink is the same color as the magenta razr and also the color of the yellow razr is not yellow its actually a similarity of the GD razr"gold razr"...motorola help with the colors of this phone..and yess to everyone that wants to no it looks rubber but its actually the same material as the SD2

I recently started a Tmobile service and purchased the Sidekick 3 last week. Well, the SKID came out today and I spent a while contemplating on whether or not to trade it in. I went ahead and went with the SKID and am much happier with it. I didn't use the horrible camera on the SK3 nor the music player or bluetooth, so the SKID was obviously the phone for me. Everything is pretty much the same (minus the multi media apps), but the buttons on the SKID have definintely improved. Instead of being the cheap, Halloween themed black and orange, they're white and blue - a MUCH better look.
I went ahead and purchased a white color kit for my phone and honestly, it's really attractive. It reminds me of the sleek Nintendo Wii console style (any Nintendo fans out there?).
I would highly recommend this phone to anyone in any age category out there, not only preteens/teens.
