Nokia E90 hands-on... again
We couldn't resist the Nokia E90 yet again, she's just so beautiful. Big -- really big -- and beautiful. That huge widescreen display, that clicky, tactile hinge, that enormous keyboard, oh yes. We only wish they might have thinned this thing down a little and chopped off the phone on the lid -- the E90 thing is a powerful palmtop device, but your regular phone with 12-key? Let's not try to make it something it's not.

Chop off the phone? That's absurd!! That's one of the best selling points about the communicator line, you can use it as a quick no nonsense 12 key phone when needed, and then open it up to do a host of other options when needed. When I had the 9500 the best thing ever was being able to organize my day, receive faxes, manage projects, then be able to close it, hand it to my mom and have her be able to call my brother if needed.
Try handing the MDA/8125 or any all touchscreen device (or to a lesser extent qwerty on the face device) to the average person on the street and see how long it takes them to figure out how to dial a number?
Not everything has to be thin and absurdly small... This isn't zoolander!!!

I agree with James, I loved my 9500 because it was EASY to give it to anyone & make a phone call. I NEVER give my Tytn to anyone to make a call because they really wouldn't know how to make one.

Exactly 1 and 2. The beauty of the Communicator line is just how perfectly the converge a phone with a mini computer!

I agree. Having the phone on the front is an absolute must, but the styling on the front is atrocious.
They need to restyle the front all over again and take advantage of all the space on the front. I can see they tried to squish everything down and design it in such a way that it would take on the appearance of a smaller phone to make the overall device "appear" smaller on the outside, but that's not fooling anyone.
They also need SsIII GPS, which I'm certain it doesn't have, otherwise, they'd be advertising it. They most likely have some no-name chipset in there which is a shame.

i agree! you guys are crazy to ask for this without the outside phone! i LOVE the outside phone for a quick call! its awesome to have a device with the flexability for both! if you are looking for thin phones then this obviously would not be the one for you to begin with! trying to make it a thin phone would actually be trying to make it something its not! i couldnt agree more with james about usability

I am SALIVATING waiting to get my hands on one of these. I plan on using it on T-mobile though. I have Slingular now lol & man do I MISS my T-mobile, I will be swtiching back JUST IN TIME for this to launch!!! I agree somewhat that a slight redesign might work on the front but even if they dont it will be THE prettiest one out there nevertheless!!!

I think the E90 may even challenge Nokia's N95, I just dont know if I cant wait any longer for it. I have been following nokia-e90.com , who says the communicator will retail for over a $1000. Worth every penny!
