HTC 6800 hands-on
We got a chance to play around with a Telus-branded HTC 6800 tonight -- we are in love. Significantly thinner and lighter than the TyTn and 6700, the 6800 has a spring-assisted slide and a keyboard with a slightly rubbery soft-touch finish that's probably the best we've ever seen on a portable device. This is the new handset to beat -- we can't wait to see the GSM version.
P.S. -We saw the 6800 on Sprint, but the executive who left it out snatched it out of our hands before we could take shots of it. Like you're so surprised it's coming.

So is TyTn = HTC 6800 or are those 2 different phones?
I was under the impression that HTC 6800 is the VX6800 which is the TyTn?

Anyways, thanks engadgetmobile for your great update, once again!

Does it run on WM5 or WM6?

6800 = codename: "Titan"
8525 = codename: "Hermes" aka brandname "TyTN"
Crazy and confusing to be so close, but there you have it - different phones, matching names...

I'm not sure if I like the keyboard sliding out to the right..

I saw it live! I didn't even realize how rare it was until I started reading about it. Things I was able to confirm.
1. Windows Mobile 5.0, which is pretty sad.
2. Hardware switch for WIFI, I've read in other places that it might have been nicer to have a mute switch instead, all these phones already have that when you hold down the Comm. button.
3. The slide out on this feels great, but I'm sure it will break down with time.
4. It is both thinner and lighter then the 6700.
I'll see if I can get detailed photos of this phone before it gets released.

there has been more action on the fcc site - that or i missed it originally
plus in the below PDF it states that on March 31 the FCC confidentiality agreement ends - so we should have access to the user manual - internal / external photos in 3 days
