Details emerge on Meizu M8 miniOne pricing
Meizu's king, lord and ruler, Mr. L Wong, has posted a couple tasty tidbits about this touch screen, MP3 playin', stylish little cellphone (that looks absolutely nothing like an iPhone) on the Meizu forums. Apparently -- and please take this with at least one good pinch of salt -- the M8 miniOne will come in two flavors: an entry-level plus a standard version. Both of these devices feature that mad mad 3.2 inch, 720 x 480 screen, and will come in either 4GB or 8GB editions. The only significant difference betwixt the two seems to be the addition of a camera for the standard edition, but word is that a camera add-on will be available. Pricing for these little gems is the best bit, with entry level ringing in at roughly $195 and $285 followed by standard edition at $305 and $400 for 4GB and 8GB respectively. Ok, reality check! While all of this sounds plausible and we want to believe it , we really do -- we just can't see this ever landing over here, as rumor has it Apple protects its intellectual property.[Via Meizu Me]

I have a request for you Meizu's king, lord and ruler, Mr. L Wong,
Ad GPS and Radio to the M8 and shut the worlds mouth for good .Try making a deal with bill gates. He wants to jam the apple foundation. Its worth a try. The world is waiting to get hands on the phone so it wouldn't be of any lost to the company to invest in the meizu. And it should support album art

The thing here I worry about is, this "standard" edition stuff. You know when a company caleld something standard, and its part of a series family, soon a PRO version or something similarly named will surface 3 months later. Wait it out!

My eyes literally widened when I saw the 720x480 dpi screen and then widened even more when i saw the price tags.

I wonder if use of the term "standard" might be a term lost in translation, where maybe they see the term "standard" as meaning "THE standard", perceived as the best in it's class or something like that. Just a guess.

Reading the specs on the web page sounds like vapor ware. Win CE 6? H.264 video at 30 FPS? for that price I doubt it.

They need to cut the price if they want people to buy the iphone rip off. I love that screen though. Hopefully they will come out soon.
kadajawi @ Mar 7th 2007 11:19PM
Cut the price? Wait... it's already much cheaper than the iPhone... should they give it away for free?
Though as far as I know Meizu pricing you can expect twice the price in Europe then... M6 4GB is 70 € in China, 160 € in Germany. US won't be THAT expensive, but still alot more, probably.
Might be there in August... in China at least.
