AT&T unleashes Motorola V3xx Gold
If there's one thing AT&T's 3G offerings have lacked thus far, it's been a gaudy overabundance of yellow metal. Well, problem solved. The midrange V3xx has been re-rendered in a lovely gold shade, decidedly more flashy than the original gunmetal gray variant. Features carry over, meaning we get the same 1.3 megapixel shooter, microSD expansion, fabulous HSDPA radio, and just-can't-get-enough RAZR styling for the price of $99.99 after contract and rebates have been applied. Look for it in stores now -- or, if you're like us, you'll keep those wallets firmly shut for the maxx.

Xavier @ Feb 26th 2007 1:49AM
Yea, but it's not an iPhone!
Will @ Feb 26th 2007 8:36AM
people would buy nokia if they would actually send some decent phones to america...right now AT&T has 2 nokia phones: 6030 & 6102i. yeah, such great phones...no wonder why they're killing motorola and samsung in sales...oh yeah, they're not!

It looks like (from this pic at least) that it has a different hinge, it dosnt have that insulting plastic cover where the second camera is suppossed to be or the indent. True the camera is gone but you wont have to be reminded of that everytime you open the phone. I had this phone (silver) for less than 24 hours and dumped it on ebay. I,ll wait for the maxx if it comes and hope that att dosnt cripple it.

I have this phone (v3xx) in gray from AT&T. I only got it for the HSPDA and it was so cheap ($79) but I was so pleased with it, it's become my primary phone. I know they took out the 2nd camera but to be honest, I can't complain since I'd never use it in the states (since NO carrier supports it). I rather it didn't have the second camera and they drop the price to $79 instead of probably $250. If you live in a 3G area this is an awesome phone. Cingular Video has a great free collection. (if you have unlimitted data). I kill time by watching Daily Show (updated daily) or some South Park. The ONLY gripe i have about this phone is that it doesn't play videos at 320x240 even though it's a 320x240 screen. but i have my iriver clix for that or swap back to my MotoMING A1200
But even so, 3.5G is so smooth, it's no longer silly to start using my phone for internet uses like facebook, google, engadgetmobile reading, MSN messenger (yes via packet data not txt msgs).
@tim, AT&T doesn't cripple phones, that's Verizon. if you want to have video calling (which is USELESS right now in the USA) then buy the europeon version for at least $200 more. $79 is a sweet price.
btw, tethering 3.5G is sweet!

Are we sure it's HSDPA and not just UTMS? The Cingular site doesn't mention anything about it -- just UTMS.
Uhhh @ Feb 26th 2007 9:42PM
Yes, all v3xx models support 3.5mbps HSDPA. That's something that Cingular's own network doesn't even support yet (until they remove the network cap).

Maybe crippled is the wrong word, lets say removed, as in features removed or maybe disabled. Its a common fact that once cingular gets around to launching a phone everyone in the world has had a version of it for a long time, v3i great example. when they finally launch it, many features available world wide and on the motorola unbranded phones are are gone or disabled. They take so long on some phones, that you can buy them on the secondary market for near and somtimes exactly what they want for a 2 year contract.becuase by the time they launch anything the world market is flooded with them. This is suppossed to be the usa, the best, not the last. so yes moto has some awesome phones world wide, full of many features that cingular disables or removes, and thats a fact.try using your mp3,s as ringtones, you cant.I can on every one of my moto branded phones, but not my cingular moto phones, why, because the feature is crippled, oh im sorry I meant disabed, by a multi billion doller company that cant compete with a poor country like guam.
ShortFuse @ Feb 27th 2007 4:01AM
dude, what are you talking about? i'm using mp3s as ringtones on my v3xx. they even REMOVED sony ericsson's retarded mandatory DRM'ing to make mp3s ringtones on the w300i (which my sister had). it just has to be less than 600kb and less than 30 seconds on the cingular models instead of running though and converting them to propietary sony format.
v3i was a mess, we know that, but if you want to complain about providers getting them late, look at when t-mobile get the v3t (which is just the v3i rebadged). plus, cingular included the music pack as well as a 512mb microSD card with the phone which brings up the price.
just admit you have a personal bias against cingular. but that's okay. people are entitled to their opinions.
as EVERY moto phone, yeah right. my v3 and my v3xx both play mp3s as ringtones. with the v3x (not even cingluar's) and the v3xx, the limit is 600kb and less than 30 seconds if you want an MP3 to be a ringtone. the v3 didn't have that limit. that was motorola's doing, not cingular.
i'm not sure if the v3xx is hsdpa, but tech specs say it is. i did a speed test and i get 780kbps down and 130kbps up. i think that's 3.5G but it could be plain old 3G (UMTS).
it's a great phone. the internal nvidia gpu makes the menu seemlessly quick. 3.5G internet and 320x240dpi screen. for $49. (i just checked the site, yes it's $49 now and the KRZR is $99)

Will,
The E62 is a NOK phone. Not 3G, but has a great screen, more capabilities and stability than a Blackjack and a far better interface than the home-grown MOT disaster.
