We're not at liberty to say how, but we acquired some exclusive footage of Samsung's new Ultra Messaging device, which is going to be hitting Asian shelves in short order. What's so special about this particular brand of i600? Check out the interface. We've seen some future builds of Windows Mobile beyond the now-current 6.0, and this is starting to look very familiar. If this is where WinMo's headed, sign us up -- let's just hope all the stuff behind the home screen gets cleaned up this nice, yeah? Don't be surprised if at some point the Samsung Ultra Messaging (or at least its UI) starts to to head westward across the globe.
Check out the gallery, or check out the video, whatever you like. Player and downloads after the break.

This is probably a response to the IPhone glitz, either by Samsung or Microsoft. Look forward to more eye candy over functionality as OEM's try to try compete against the Jobs RDF.

This is just the custom Samsung home screen that the SGH-i600 is running. It's still Windows Mobile 5. The i600s that Samsung had in their booth at 3GSM were using this screen and they were *definitely* WM5. I know because I asked their smartphone product manager when we'd see a WM6 version and she was very cagely. And, of course, I checked the version on the i600s at the show and they were certainly WM5.
