The
Cingular / AT&T 8525 --
aka the HTC TyTn -- is in the hands of many customers now. Would'ja believe that a new ROM is starting to surface that glosses on some of AT&T biggie features, though? Try these on for size: Push-To-Talk, Cingular (or, AT&T) Video and Blackberry Connect. Make that a pretty huge ROM upgrade for that newer 8525. If you're among the brave to install it, those additions may just breathe new life into
your TyTn. Oh yeah -- xda-developers is stating that a new AT&T (yes, let's all capitalize together) logo is included on the boot splash screen.
Super. As luck would have it, though, all ROM images may be
going away from xda-developers next week as well.

I dunno about this one...looks like a fake Sidekick 3 to me. Thanks Cingular but I think I'll stick with the original, even if it has a crappy camera.

Hello Fashionista, welcome to 2007. We have a shi**y president, the world's gonna end, and apparently you've never heard of a pocket pc. It's been around longer than your shi**y sidekick and looks absolutely nothing like it. Not only that but it has more features, better specs, and can do a whole lot more. But thanks for clogging up the internet with your stupidity. If you really feel the need to post stupid, ignorant crap like that on the internet, please go visit PS3 Fanboy. I'm sure they'd be more than happy to have you on their site.

There are still quite a few bugs to be ironed out. The splash screen creates a bit of a volume problem (which can be fixed in the registry) -- and the overall system is still a bit unstable. But yes, BB Connect and Cingular..ahem...AT&T Video are here - as well as PTT functionality.

It's totaly amazing how this ROM upgrade adds the front facing video call camera which has been non-existant on the Cingular 8525 up until now. How do they do that?

^^^Hahaha

They didn't add a front facing cam at all. That pic is of the HTC TyTn, which has always had a front facing video cam. It's only the Cingular/AT&T branded 8525 variant that was missing a camera.

Im currently using it. The volume problem was an easy registry fix. I edited the extended rom so the mobitv and bbc crap wouldnt get loaded onto my phone. It was easy to do. Im only 18, then again Ive been modding since the E398 rolled around...

So I am no pro att upgrading my ROM....I've done it before but I am by no means skilled at tweaking a registry or anything....would you guys that know what you're doing reccommend me trying out the new ROM or wait until the finished product is released?
Thanks!!

DON'T DO THIS "UPGRADE" UNLESS YOU ARE WILLING TO LOOSE HOTMAIL, YAHOO, AND OPERA MINI CAPABILITIES. THERE ARE OTHER FUNCTIONALITY LOSSES AS WELL THAT I AM NOT FAMILIAR WITH SUCH AS VOICE DIALING I BELIEVE. I HAVE NOT FOUND A WAY TO RESTORE THE OLD ROM. BEWARE.

I've got the update for my 8525. I don't see anything about Blackberry Connect either on the device or on the update site over at HTC. I had heard RIM was going to start supporting WM devices but I don't think this is one of those cases... yet.

Well, can attest to the losing PPT and Mmode capability by install of os 6 black for 8525. Searching web forums to see if someone has found a fix for proxy enabling and remapping PPT button on os 6. If anyone has found the fountain of truth, please advise. Would be much appreciated. Thnx
