Hold on,
Apache owners, your knight in shining armor is just around the corner! At least we think it is, now that we've seen some shots of a Verizon-branded XV6800 doing its thing in the wild. It may not look much different than the XV6700 it replaces, but we figure that if the EV-DO Rev. A doesn't tempt you -- or the promise of a Rev. A upgrade at some point, at least -- the 2 megapixel camera and 256MB of Flash just might. Hit the gallery for more pictures.

Is it me or is this XV6800 running on WM5???

Yes, the XV6800 is still running on WM5 but with AKU 3.
Tony @ Jun 18th 2007 9:23PM
when is the XV6800 schedule to be release?
Manny @ Feb 10th 2007 2:37PM
That sorta dispells the rumor that the xv6800 release was delayed due to a decision to ship the device with Crossbow... So what in the world could be taking them so long? And when in the world are we gonna be able to get this beast?
mike @ Feb 10th 2007 3:19PM
@ #6
It's probably taking a while to sell through the xv6700 stock that they have now, so until inventory levels get to a comfortable level, we can keep waiting.
Big Trav @ Feb 11th 2007 4:03PM
I have been Informed that one of the Call centers is having a training on this phone this week. shich if that is the case then very very soon like a week or two for B2B release.
I researched this processor a little it looks as if it has a dual processor. like one for the apps and one for the phone... Could be sweet! cant wait to get my hands on one!!
ele @ Feb 12th 2007 1:09PM
Does the screen in the gallery say 64MB? I thought this were supposed to be 96MB.
Adam @ Feb 12th 2007 2:15PM
I don't know how Ti's Processors stack up against the intel x-scale chips but this phone seems almost like a down grade in some aspects compared to the Apache.
Slower processor
less processor cache
Same ammount of application ram
no ir port
no camera flash
lower resolution on video recording
weaker battery

I don’t think that is correct info on that site. the screen shot of the processor says 384 MHz.
201 MHz that is just embarrassing… I would not believe any of the specs on this page. Some good info though

OK! Just turned in 2 xv6700. Bring on the xv6800, PLEASE!!! No one is aware of a replacement in the stores. I'm seem to educate them everytime I ask about the xv6800. :-(
BigJuan @ Feb 13th 2007 3:18PM
I Heard today that the release has been pushed back, but they are still saying Q1. also heard that VZW has over 18,000 xv6700 still in stock, and that they usually like to be about 5-6,000 before release of new product.
Joe Turner @ Feb 16th 2007 2:59PM
Guys,
I am concerned about the slower processer...I tried out the Cingular 8525 for about a week, and was very impressed with the device - not Cingular's lack of coverage as well as phone insurance...However, Verizon retail personnel are not even aware of an update...I too have to educate them...any word on a release date for the 6800?

I just called UTstarcom a few minutes ago and the guy told me it would be released probably within 2 months

So does anyone have an idea when the 6800 will be offered from Verizon Wireless? Even if the comment above about reducing the inventory on 6700's is true, how long could we possibly have to wait? Phonescoop.com say its offered by Sprint and Verizon Wireless - tentative.
Also, doesnt anyone know if Sprint allows streaming video (Like watching a video clip online using the internet browser on the phone)
Thanks!
Omie @ Jul 31st 2007 7:34PM
I sent this is to Engadget Mobile a few days ago but they still havent posted anything about it. It came from Verizon so take it for what its worth.

Verizon support tech last week said he was scheduled to go to a training on the the 6800, but the class was canceled.
lovefemalefeetguy @ Aug 31st 2007 5:45PM
Kids....please...just go out and get yourself an HTC Mogul from Sprint. Sprint offers far better network speeds (already at rev A) and way cheaper data contracts (i.e., a package that won't burn a big hole in your wallet).
Or, simply wait until this time next year and opt to get a WiMAX phone where you won't need to worry about data packages at all...it'll all be included. :D
tsteuver @ Sep 24th 2007 1:39PM
While "patiently" waiting for the xv6800, I see that Verizon Wireless is now out of stock on the xv6700. Does that mean we will see the xv6800 soon?
surag @ Sep 24th 2007 7:41PM
Where do you see it out of stock? It still seems to be in-stock online. It lets me add the phone to cart and get to the checkout page...
I just got an 8830 but really want to switch to the xv6800, so hopefully it is out within the next 30 days.
tsteuver @ Sep 25th 2007 7:04AM
The link
http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/controller?item=phoneFirst&action=viewPhoneDetail&selectedPhoneId=2200
shows the phone "Out of Stock".

I was at the Verizon store the other day and one of the reps allow me to see the dummy model. It looks like the sprint version, except it will be a blue metallic color. They had the real version, but couldn't allow anyone to see it. According to the rep, the internet is much faster, wi-fi connects at a better rate, and it comes with GPS navigation.
Tom @ Oct 9th 2007 4:38PM
I live in Dallas and was calling my local Verizon store because my wife's Treo is acting up. I am getting it replaced with another Treo but they also informed me that the XV6800 and i760 are both coming out mid-November.
I am waiting until then for the 6800, she can keep her jinky Treo 700wx.

As an update for the Samsung i760 folks, the guy at the store in Circuit City said that his inbound shipping manifest showed an i760 but he was not sure if it was coming in or not.

Dear Brenda,
I noticed the below link regarding the release of the XV6800.
http://news.vzw.com/news/2007/10/pr2007-10-18b.html
Does Verizon have a release date yet? I have been waiting patiently for this phone and would like to know when I could expect it in stores.
Best Regards,
Kris Harness @ Nov 17th 2007 11:12AM
November 28th - not sure if that's B2B or store launch but either way, the long, long wait is about over. BTW - this came from a VZW Telesales rep. that I've worked with for some time.

Jeremy @ Nov 27th 2007 5:37PM
Does anybody know what the 6800 will retail for right out of the shoot?
cheerfulg @ Nov 28th 2007 2:18AM
Ordered mine online a little while ago. $499 full price...I did NE2 upgrade - $100 credit, got $100 advanced device credit for data plan, and there is a $100 online discount. $199 and it's on the way...finally. Can't wait to run over my Treo with the car, but I won't do that until the end of my 30 trial period...just in case!
omfl @ Nov 28th 2007 2:49PM
I saw it on the page availble to order - I bought it. New to verizon so I didn't have an upgrade credit, but with a few employee discounts I in for $200 after mail-in rebate.....YES. ****kicking sidekick to the curb***
skyrise @ Nov 29th 2007 1:48PM
I've watched the 6700 for 2 years waiting for the price to go below $300. When I finally gave in and went to buy it at that price, it was no longer available pending the release of the 6800.
Now I'm going to buy the 6800 this weekend for $350-400. Does anyone know any additional rebates or ways to get it for less?
Theo @ Mar 4th 2008 2:08PM
Is there any way to run Windows Live or MSN Messenger on the XV6800? I know it doesn't come with preloaded Live integration, but is there any software available that will let me send IMs through my Windows Live Messenger account when I connect to internet via wi-fi, etc.?
