The elusive
Jawbone Bluetooth headset has been on just about every headset owner's
radar since this month
last year, but after time took its
course and the well-spec'd (and mighty stylish) earpiece got
official, we knew it wouldn't be long before these suckas hit the market. Sure enough, the dashing headset is now available for the world to indulge in, and you'll even get to make the painstaking decision between red, black, or silver motifs. So if you've been holding out on every other headset that tempted your wallet in order to grab this very piece of noise-cancelling kit, all that's required now is $119.99 and little patience.

my cingular store has had these since mid-december...and i'm pretty sure that there was an article about it's release then, why do we need another?
thrillho @ Jan 31st 2007 12:54PM
i have one (got it from cingular) and it is great. i can only picture an implanted one sounding better.
ShortFuse @ Jan 31st 2007 12:54PM
Because even I as a Cingular customer can't get one, and I've been trying to since mid december. I'm not driving 20 miles to an NJ Cingular store or drive to NYC to circle 8 blocks looking for parking. Can't even get them online. Need one to compliment my new V3xx
Will @ Jan 31st 2007 1:19PM
yes, but this article is acting as if there have been no stores with them until today...i've never seen a website celebrate a launch of something that has been out for 1 1/2 months

Amen, brother.
Further more I was able to buy one of these back in December and ended up returning it after 3 days.
The ear hook is the worst design ever. Its extremely annoying and cumbersome to try to put this thing on when you want to use it. I found myself struggling to get it on my ear securely. Its like they over-engineered it. Further more, all the snazzy jazzy technology it claims to have isnt really all that effective, yes it works, but as well as they advertise. The phone I used this ear piece with was a Sprint PPC 6700. Before using the jawbone I was very happy with the Sony Ericsson HBH-610. The only reason I was looking to upgrade was I wanted the same sound quality I got out of the HBH-610 and a USB charging port. The jawbone charges via USB but has a proprietary connection port on the jawbone itself that is NOT mini-USB so this means that you HAVE to carry another cable around with you if you need to charge your jawbone on the go.
Basically, the Jawbone was over-hyped and over priced. If you are happy with the performance of your current BT headset then I would NOT recommend the jawbone.

How much is Cingular charging for these?
Richard @ Jan 31st 2007 2:39PM
Nah! The article is right on. There aren't Cingular (Oops! AT&T) stores around the world. But, now that you can purchase at aliph.com, the world, presumably, can partake.
Yeah! The hook isn't too comfortable and my second one fits differently than my first one (both right-side earhooks snapped whilst the apparatus was in my pocket) but the quality of sound for the person at the other end of the call - usually clients - is better than any of the 5 BT headsets I had used previously. But using the different sized ear pieces I think I have it sorted now.
Best headset available (IMHO) having not tried the B&O one...yet....that's a lot of $$$$.

I am buying one today. I have heard from several users that the quality is excellent.
I am so SICK of people asking me if I have them on speakerphone!
Will @ Jan 31st 2007 4:13PM
they've been on cingular.com since december...so yes they've been on the internet for a while
Christian Fredrickson @ Jan 31st 2007 4:45PM
JBAFS1819 coupon code for free ground shipping on Jawbone from them through Feb 14th. I just ordered one.
ShortFuse @ Jan 31st 2007 4:55PM
Cingular.com only sells the silver one. I want the black one. Thanks for the coupon code. Ordering from Jawbone.com
Andrew @ Jan 31st 2007 7:19PM
Yeah, I just ordered one with the shipping discount promo code that they handed out for mailing in for "pre-orders". I drive a loud, manual Mustang, so I need a way to talk on my phone without having to hold a phone, and I need people to actually hear me over my exhaust.
boxer @ Feb 1st 2007 12:45PM
Ordered on Friday/arrived today and the noise cancellation/sound quality is as advertised (very good/excellent). Contrary to a comment or two above, the mechanical design is IMHO great and the ear loop specifically is easy to fit/comfortable to wear/easy to get on/off.
One negative is that the headset seems to confuse the hell out of (auto-magic/no-training) Nokia N70 voice recognition (which works very well on that handset with other BT headsets).

I've had one for about 2 months - got it at a Cingy store. Am I the only one that completely disagrees with everyone calling this elephant "stylish"? I've never had a headset that so many people comment on - and usually the comment is - "man, that thing's huge."
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE that people can hear me now, but it's not perfect. While researching this thing, I saw someone mention buying jabra eargels for a perfect fit in the ear. The don't work! Between the crazy earhook, and the large ear gel, there's no room for an actual ear.
Anyone interested:
Sound quality on other end - 10/10
Sound quality on my end - 6/10 (not a good fit in the ear, so sometimes it's hard to hear.
Design - 2/10 - imagine a zippo lighter stuck on the side of your face
Connection - 10/10 - I have a BB 8100 (pearl), and it never drops the connection
Worth buying? If no one has ever complained about being able to hear you, I wouldn't waste the money.

PERFECT for those times you're in a club and your girlfriend calls..
THATS WHAT I'M USING IT FOR!
Matt @ Feb 15th 2007 8:15PM
Just ordered the "Red" Jawbone. Can't wait to try it out.
