AT&T launches MOTORAZR V3xx HSDPA clam
We just peeped it with the FCC and on the pricing sheet. Now, just like we expected, out pops the Motorola V3xx on the new AT&T. Sure, it's no MAXX or SYNC but we're not going to complain about having another HSDPA option in the US market. Although, we'd have preferred free over the $80 it'll cost ya after a two-year contract and $50 mail in rebate. Still, not bad for stereo A2DP Bluetooth audio, MicroSD expansion for your media, and a clam that will double up as a high-speed wireless modem.[Thanks, Alexei]

I'm sorry, but the sync is a horrible phone. I have one for testing purposes, and it has stopped working after 3 weeks. The end and # buttons do not work any more. the text input methods are horribly outdated as well.
theburn16 @ Jan 26th 2007 10:17AM
as far as the Sync goes, it's one of the most sold phones in our store and to the best of my knowledge we've only had 1 returned for any kind of problem that wasn't caused by the user....the same can't be said for most any other phone we sell, ESPECIALLY the razr...it's gotta be the worst phone ever made as far as quality goes
ShortFuse @ Jan 26th 2007 11:28AM
it's not bad, not at all, compared to the v3i being $250 with 2 yr contract when it launched. it's definitely right to say this is AT&T launching this. If it wasn't for AT&T, it probably would have been stuck in Cingular's loopholes for another 3 months.
theburn16 @ Jan 26th 2007 11:44AM
Shortfuse: Cingular is AT&T you idiot, all we did was change our name and a few bellsouth execs are now in the mix at the top still along side some of the cingular execs
ShortFuse @ Jan 26th 2007 11:54AM
i'm not an idiot. i know what AT&T and Cingular are. but now that AT&T absorbed Cingular, there are a lot more resources that can be spent. In 2006, the V3i was supposed to be the biggest thing for Cingular. Building on the success on the Razr, it had music, which should have been a tremendous success. Cingular messed it up horribly with delays and a high priced selling point. I doubt it's coincidence that now that Cingular is AT&T the next Razr is being priced aggressively and released before any other carrier has it (Verizon beat Cingular to v3i/v3m)
theburn16 @ Jan 26th 2007 12:44PM
lol, ur crazy...at&t didn't absorb Cingular. Cingular bought AT&T a couple years ago and was owned partially by SBC and Bellsouth who when they merged took the name of AT&T. as you can see it's still the same 3 companies running Cingular...so how do you figure that changed anything?
JFR @ Jan 26th 2007 12:48PM
There are no additional resources with the merger/name change. Cingular/AT&T Mobility is staying very much the same. You need to realize that AT&T was bought by SBC, who owned 60% of Cingular. Nothing has really changed at the top. It's all smoke and mirrors (or rebrand). And no, Moto F'd the V3i, not Cingular.

Yawn, Yet another razr; only w/ HSDPA.

#1 I've had the same thing happen. Seems like its better to post this in a forum and then give Engadget a link.
Rico @ Feb 1st 2007 1:12AM
Wow. Engadget did you guys get this wrong, as well as most of the people on this site spewing comments when they don't know what they are talking about.
The V3xx is a completly different phone from the original V3 or it's cousin's such as the V3i,V3r,etc. on the Gsm side and the V3m, V3c on the CDMA side.
This is a third generation RAZR. This phone is the sister phone to the RAZR MAXX. The only difference being mainly the Camera's the V3xx 1.3mp as opposed to the MAXX's 2.0 MP with auto focus. That is about it. The guts of both phones are idenical. The diminsions are almost idenical. They are almost the same phone. The V3xx shares no parts, let me repeat no parts with the V3 and it's encarnations.
The V3 line goes like this.
First Gen and platform: Original V3 and it's cousins, V3i, V3r etc.
Second Gen and Platform: V3x sold only in Europe, the follow up to the V3. And no the KRZR is another platform altogether, not a follow up to the V3.
Now Third Gen and platform: V3xx, MOTOPHONE V3 with Foma, and the Razr Maxx are all on the same platform and share most of the parts, only the body is different on the Maxx and camera's slightly different. The guts of each of these phones are the exactly the SAME! They share the same UI, NVIDIA GoForce 4800 GPU, QVGA screen, memory, dimensions(The Maxx being slightly different) and much more etc. Reread that, almost EXACTLY THE SAME PHONES! The Maxx has a different body and has a better camera, the Japanese MOTORAZR V3xx has FOMA. That is it. Please Edgadget get it right next time.
The V3xx looks like the original V3 on purpose, we sold over 50 million of these phones, But that is where the simularaties stop. The V3xx and the Maxx are almost the same phone. The V3xx shares no parts with the original V3, none! This drives me nuts.
Edgadget, you should really do a little better research on your phones before commenting on them. I thought you were better than that. And yes I work for Moto.
Get it right already.
Rico @ Feb 1st 2007 1:25AM
Another thing, how can you say "it's no Maxx or Sync"? Mr. Ricker. No it's better than the Sync. Make that much better. And almost the exact same phone as the Maxx. I have seen the Sync and the Sync 2.0 Camera is not better than the V3xx's 1.3Mp camera. The Maxx and the V3xx have the GoForce GPU which the Sync lacks, this GPU speeds up the phone menu's and applications as well as provides enhancements to photos and screen color saturation. The V3xx and the Maxx are 3.6mps HSDPA while the Sync is 1.8mps HSDPA. Wrong again my friend. Maybe I should write for Edgadget. Atleast I would get my facts straight.
