Mmm,
launch dates. We can't help but thank our lucky stars a bit for this one, but we'll admit, knowing that we'll have to wait around two extra months to see Nokia's
N95 make its way into retail distribution channels is a bit tough to stomach. After finally seeing this mobile get
legit, get
reviewed, get
set back, and get
picked up by Doctor Z himself, we're delighted that the blokes (and gals) across the pond won't be waiting too much longer for their own turn. According to MobileToday, the forthcoming Nokia will hit UK users "in the second week of March," and after a fortnight of exclusivity in the
UK, it'll then be loosed onto other parts of
Europe. Of course, Nokia is mum on the whole deal, so we're not hearing any more juicy details just yet, but hey, knowing how long you've got to save up is reason enough to celebrate, right?

Considering open wifi is nearly ubiquitous and US data plans cost a fortune I dont see the point in 3G in the US. Nokia will ship wimax handsets in 2008 anyway. I dont pay for data on the N80 I imported nor do I feel any need. If the carriers where not idiots I'm sure nokia would work with them.

*Eric*, I love my Nokia N80 as well, but I also love my Samsung Blackjack with HSDPA for allowing me to stream SomaFM in high quality while driving down the freeway at 70 mph - try that with EDGE or WiFi :)

Hmm.. Lotsa folks got this one off eBay on "pre-buy". Sounds like they're going to be waiting quite a bit longer than the "last week of January, 1st week of February" promised.

with only a qvga screen (internet surfing would suck), no touch screen, or hardware keyboard.. really makes me wonder how dedicated nokia is to making just one kick ass smart phone. I can't stand how they can get so many things right including the 16 million color screen, but can not even give you a better way to interface with the phone other that the two liders with are not that innovative. This phone is just like every other nokia smart phone I've owned good at somethings, but not everything. Nice try nokia, maybe next time.

By the way, nokia got me hooked on higher res screens, my first being the nokia 9290 communicator 640x200px. then to the nokia 9500 communicator 640x200, nokia 7710 smartphone 640x320, and now using htc universal 640x480px. Why go down resolution? I love VGA res, and am hoping the HTC omni really does have a 800x480 res screen. That would be one kick ass ppc.

i really want this phone, and i really planned on find a out of my verizon contract in order to get this bad boy but now im not so sure. ehh. $750 for it seems a lil much and im waning on its looks, it gets less exciting the longer i wait. they had me as an inpulse buyer had it not been delayed. now that i have time to think about it, i doubt i will buy it unless it comes in at under $500.
