Authenticity is tough to verify here, but what we've heard from an inside source here regarding Sprint Nextel's launch estimates for the first half of the new year -- including some devices that have already hit the streets -- seems totally plausible, if not probable. Samsung's been tapped to provide three: the m300 "Vivace,"
m510 "Fantasy" (apparently a minor update to the m500), and -- most interestingly -- the m620 "Flipper," which we've now heard from multiple sources will be a CDMA version of the nifty
F300 Ultra Music Edition, scheduled to launch with Sprint on April 1. Sanyo brings a total of five to the party, two of which have already launched: the 3200,
7000, 7050, Katana II (hopefully sporting EV-DO this time), and
M1. Sierra Wireless and Novatel will team up to bring three more data devices to market, the 595U,
597E, and Express (the
XV620, we're guessing?). Moto's on the hook for three devices, the
Q (wow, we haven't heard it called "Franklin" in
ages) and a pair of iDEN / CDMA hybrids, the
ic502 and ic902. Rounding out the offerings will be the 6800 -- an
HTC Titan variant -- and the previously-unmentioned Palm Sherlock (a CDMA version of the
680 or
750, we'd wager). Not a bad lineup considering this all theoretically goes down in the first six months of the year, eh?

I can verify that this is actual documentation from Sprint's planned releases.

So with the Titan scheduled for May for Sprint, and rumors pointing to a Verizon release before Sprint, this has to point to the Titan appearing on VZW sometime before that, right?

I already sent u guys some screen grabs from the FDT device ID page for most of these phones including the treo 755.

What happened to the Samsung a720, which we just had seen "in the flesh"? Darn...

Where's the Libra, i'm holding off on the Q for the first Sprint EVDO Rev. A device and it's not listed?
Cactus @ Jan 18th 2007 8:34PM
Now, I love clamshells as much as the next guy, but every single non-clearance non-smartphone available on Sprint's website... is a clamshell. Any sliders or candybars in the pipe up there?
Samat @ Jan 20th 2007 12:51AM
The Novatel XU870 is an HSDPA device; as an EVDO carrier Sprint is definitely not going to be offering this card.

Hasn't anyone noticed that the Q was released around 1/15 on the sprint web page, as noted by other articles here... and therefore the date of 2/11 is incorrect?

the 510 and the flipper, are amazing phones. On the 510, mix the pebble from tmobile, with the m500 already out. doesnt have that click flip to it, but that kind of roundness to it, with some similar contours of the m500. I saw it tested in red and black, but probably wont come out in that color he said. Will come out in with a blue exterior and a silver exterior, and both models will have black interior. the keypad is almost exactly like the key pad on the 610, the new slip flip phone on sprint. The one I saw, was with the extended battery, and was still quite stylish and slim. the menus area little bit differant, but much nicer, improved themes. And a minor note that made me disgustingly happy, if you know samsungs, when you go to contacts, and want to jump to a name, its a two second pause. That has been eliminated to less than a sec. Beautiful. My comments on the flipper i bleieve will be a second entry after this.

There is a nother link on the f300 specific here for pics
http://www.newsmobile.it/notizia/06,12,04,8731779-1.htm
The pics at this link are almost exact. The model i played with didnt slit at the bottom though. And everything is improved on this phone. every application has been either made better or faster. The only thing i didnt get to test that i have a question about is texting...and how it works. Other than that...this is a dream phone.
Other facts you'd like to know about this phone, is what it includes and what it comes with. The battery is internal. And the esn sticker, peels off, so there may be a delay until they have a way to keep track of the phones essentially.
But there is a nifty little case that comes with it. The phone kinda of "docks" into the bottom, and the case closes, or flips, to cover both sides of the phone. The aspect that is bad ass about the case, it has a battery built in. Was told the battery built into the leather case, makes the mp3 last up to 16hrs. Not sure on how long it will extend the phone talk time, but plenty. And that is kind of nice, given the built in battery is only 2.5hrs talk time. Too long a comment, point blank and serious. This is an amazing phone. And i'm buying one lol

i love sprint so much! i wanted to get the katana 1 but it doesn't have a media player on it. but from the looks of this the katana 2 will! i rememeber back when sprint only had a handful of phones too choose from. now they have more then cingular!!! i hope the new katana has the new roaming thingy they were talking about on sprint users. it would be nice to never have to see the phone display anything about roaming. now since it is totally free.

...And every single smartphone is a NON-clamshell... Any clamshell/flip Smartphones/PDAphones in the pipeline ?
