Just like we said the
first time around, Motorola is capitalizing on their
multi-colored variations of almost every phone they make and bringing the
fiyah red KRZR k1m to The Network. There are no changes to the device other than its glossy red exterior. HTC Kid tells us the pricing is $349.99 commitment free, $199.99 on a one year, $149.99 on a two year
servitude contract. Look for the phone to launch right in time for Valentine's Day. Could Verizon have a
green one coming for St. Patty's Day? Stay tuned!

Color is very cool.

It'd be nicer if it wasn't tied to Verizon...hey Sprint, you getting this one, or are you going to keep on letting Verizon have all the good stuff?
Brian @ Jan 17th 2007 10:59PM
Man, that phone looks great!
Too bad the interface is still motorola-crap!
Jr. @ Jan 17th 2007 11:36PM
@Brian....unfortunately, coming from Verizon means the interface is worse...it's the dreaded Verizon-crap interface!

Oh what a surprise, another VZW/UI comment! Ya know that gets thrown around probably just out of habit nowadays. Someone scrolls over an Engadget Mobile article mentioning VZW, and goes "must... make... comment... UI.... terrible... lol" in their thought process.
It's even funner that there really is hardly any merit to that saying anymore. The only thing that VZW UI won't let you do anymore (very easily at least) is import your own ringtones (OMG those evil evil bastards!)... a pretty superficial thing if you ask me.
I mean seriously, if the VZW UI was half as bad as some of you make it sound then why on earth does VZW keep coming out quarter after quarter with most new additions/lowest churn EVERY time?
And what is also hilarious is that the internet is THE ONLY place I have ever heard this "VZW's UI's are teh suxors, OMG!" crap before. I'm sure I've spoken with thousands of customers of VZW and NOT ONCE have I got a "the UI is too restrictive, blah blah".
Alrighty, I'm done (for now).

well put Elgee02, it getting a bit old hearing the same thing over and over, specifically from people who do not even have VZW as there carrier.

This looks NICE. I'd pick one up if they Fireized the GSM KRZR

I got my hands on an actual Fire KRZR today and it is the best looking one I've seen. It's hard to tell by these pictures but it's a very reflective red glossy type finish, not a solid red like the picture would kinda lead on. Still sweet looking none the less.

elgee02 - Maybe if all things verizon in the blogosphere are covered with complaints about their CRIPPLED firmware, they might decide its bad enough press to stop crippling...
Perhaps as a cleverly titled LG fan you've missed that the moto KRZR also can't play mp3's, has limited bluetooth functionality, and doesn't utilize the outside buttons properly. On a red phone like this, the VZW UI looks nice for sure, but pulling off a fantastic impression of a VZW billboard doesn't qualify as a phone feature.
At any rate, Alltel and Verizon Monster flashes have been leaked, so flash VZW away with impunity!!!

The K1m can't play mp3s? Umm actually, yes... yes it can right out of the box too.
And this "limited" bluetooth you speak of... like what? The K1m supports BT 1.1, and allows for OBEX transfers as well as dial-up networking. Sure it's not the latest BT version out there, but what else do you really need?
And the outside buttons working not like they are supposed to... say what? Whenever you play a song on the phone and flip it closed, those buttons light up and work just as they are supposed to... perhaps you dealt with a defected model?
I may be an LG fan, but I deal with a lot of non-LG phones on a regular basis.

I just got one, and yes it is shiny red but on top only. The bottom is a matte deep red. I love the deep dark red color - it has always been my favorite. Very pretty phone with a solid feel and great voice quality (it is a phone first, I hate cell phones with poor sound). Since I don't want it for all the data options this should be more than enough for me.
I purchased the upgrade option so I could play MP3s on it. I still need to set it up and will post more if it doesnt' work out.

Hubby ordered me the fire krzr today because I fell in love with it. It's pretty sweet! I can't wait to get it. (lucky for me our contract is up and it's time to replace phones, just in the nick of time!)
lalala @ Apr 2nd 2007 10:24PM
by the way there are some phones that you can make your own ringtones with IE: samsung a950, all the chocolate phones, the enV, oh and the krazr.... and the lg 8600...in fact any of the new phones coming out that play mp3s... but yeah the red krazr cool and all but the strawberry chocolate thats coming out is sooooo awesome and pretty then again im a girl with all the pink so yeah haha
