The dual slide action is trick, but it seems like it'd be easy to accidentally engage it in one direction or the other with the phone in your pocket. No bother; just throw in a set of
Jabra BT8010's and we're good to go.

Don't get me wrong.. I really really like Symbian devices..I sport an N80 at the moment..However, if the iphone is as fantastic (UI wise) as it looked, then I am sorry.. I'll relegate the venerable Nokia to my "beater" phone.. Cingular won;t carry the N95 so I'd still be riding the EDGE network anyways.. oh well..

I have a N80 and have been waiting for the N95 for what seems like forever...But now the iPhone has my full attention. The sad thing is that the iPhone has a pretty solid release date (june) and it was only announced yesterday! Yet we still have no release date for the N95!...Any mention by Nokia at CES as to when we can actually buy it?!

CNET is reporting a Nokia rep. at CES mentioned the N95 would be shipping by the end of the month, unfortunately not in the US. Word from Nokia is there are no current plans to release in the US, but that it would only take some slight modification to bring the phone here, that statement would indicate that it might happen but if so it's going to be a while. So for those of us willing to pay for an unlocked model (me) looks like soon is the word of the day.

Aside from the UI, it's everything the iPhone should have been. Perhaps I'll get an iPhone Rev 2 in say two years if it gets a removable battery, a MiniSD slot, 3G, a GPS and user-installable apps, but the N95 will be mine ASAP.

N95's release date is Q2. Engadget stated it one another article, so you're looking April-July. Not on US shores of course.

Nokia N95 has a MICRO SD slot.
the N95 does NOT have 3G 1900/850mhz
But I don't care. 2.5G/3G Data rates in Canada are way way to expensive for it to be an option anyway.
Until I hear that the iPhone loads any widget, I'm still a fan of the N95.

N95 has GSM 850, it just doesnt support US (i.e. Cingular) 3G bands.

May be the iphone is UI wise but nokia have the best hardware, no matter how good your UI is if you not have memory card slot, gps, 3G, multimegapixel camera....And certainly i don´t believe that the iphone UI is a lot more good than symbian to worth the lost

I live in the US, and am APPALLED that N95 is apparently not going to be picked up by a US carrier! Seems that most US residents continue to prefer clamshell phones just to talk on; drives me crazy. N95 is the phone I've been waiting for to replace my old but reliable 3650, but alas, no US carrier. I'll probably go ahead and pay full price nonetheless. And regarding N95 vs the iPhone, N95 looks like the perfect form factor for my tastes...iPhone looks too big.

Forget the Iphones non removable battery, no removable memory, high price, no 3g on a cingular network. no over-the-air support to the popular ipod download service!?!?! lack of office docs/ app support, no beam data access (sry a nokia sweetness) but yet INCREDIBALE DISPLAY (which actually out-does the quality from that of the N95 and Nokia's top display of the popular E70's model). the iphone is a glossy eye catchy phone, maybe more so than the N95 and yet sill cheaper! but still--a cheaper all-around phone in comparisons to the all-mighty N-NINE-FIVE! If you take a good educative look at the n95 and compare it on all fronts to the Apple Iphone--you the reader will see theres absolutely no comparisons... besides the awesome display--kudos to alteast that as a benchmark display.

I'll take my 6 lines to T-Mobile if Cingular doesn't start selling more acceptable phones: N75, N95. I haven't had my contract extended by in house phone upgrades for some time as there has only been eBay to satisfy my upgrade experiments!

this phone is a no brainer, God willing, I will be copping this phone, and I would like to thank verizon for increasin their sms so i can get out of this contract. i mean for $700 you get a camera, mp3 player (no use for me since i use my sony 50 hour mp3 player), gps, and a great phone. thats a lot of money but this also seems like a phone that in 2 years will be able to hold up to any new phone that most people will sport in terms of looks and features. by then of course nokia will have the n69 which ill monica lewinsky you while youre on the phone.

can someone please explain to me how the band widths work? What is the fastest band width that cingular is using right now? I'm looking to get a phone mainly for internet and i currently use cingular as my carrier. Should I only be looking at phones that have 3G 1900/850mhz on their spec sheet? And can someone also please explain to me why so many other nations are ahead of us in regards to phone tech. while the self proclaimed "greatest nation" on earth has to pay up the butt for subpar equipment and bandwidth. I was looking at the cingular 8525 wich looks pretty powerful but at the same time pretty ugly. Can someone tell me the difference btwn smartphones and PDA's? thanks to everyone in advance -laymen

Will the phone work with verizon? i read its a quad band phone and suports alsmost all GSM bands and also supports WCDMA2100, i know verizon is CDMA but i dont know if the phone will work with verizon. I am tired of using cingulars slow internet, so the phone is only useful if it goes with verizon as the internet is really fast with them

no this phone doesnt work on verizon, the cdma2100 is for high speed internet abroad. this is a quadband gsm phone using 850/900/1800/1900 (i might be wrong on those numbers)
