Motorola announces MOTORIZR Z6
The first RAZR-esque slider for global release from Moto, the MOTORIZR Z3, hasn't even seen wide distribution yet, but that didn't stop them from announcing the hotter Z6 at CES this week. The upgraded device adds a so-2006 glossy black finish and features Motorola's new Linux- and Java-based platform, but perhaps more importantly to users, it integrates seamlessly with Windows Media Player 11 and rocks support for Windows Media DRM. Other features of the music-heavy handset carry over from the Z3, including a 2 megapixel cam, Bluetooth with A2DP, and expansion via microSD; sadly, there's still no mention of 3G on board. Expect the Z6 to be available by the end of this half of the year, with pricing to be announced closer to launch.

Current Z3 owners, say it with me: KHAAAAAAAAN!!
Oh well, even if I won't have the new OS, the Z3 is still a very capable phone, and very nice when you're not locked out of doing stuff like OBEX file transfers for your own wallpapers and ringtones without using network time.

Woop de friggin' do, another asinine "slider" phone.
It is incredible that vendors are wasting design time and money on desperate blunders like this, when we still can't sync our contacts, calendar, tasks, and memos properly with phones that have four times the memory of a Palm device. Earth to Motorola: GIVE US A THIN CLAMSHELL PHONE THAT SYNCS WITH OUTLOOK AND PLAYS MP3S. We need contacts (WITH ADDRESSES), calendar, tasks, and memos from Outlook (and possibly other major PIMs). No, none of the current phones offer this.
For example: What you want to bet that this phone STILL doesn't have addresses in the contacts? It has the GPS that we were all forced to "upgrade" to, and surely your service provider will try to sell you location-based services... but where are you navigating when all the addresses you had in Outlook are MISSING from the phone?
Not to mention that non-clamshell phones, "slider" or not, and just plain dumb. They expose the screen to damage at all times.
People, don't vote for this garbage with your dollars.

To Mr/Mrs/Ms Information Central,
Woop de "F......" do is right, when in doubt read the manual! On it's own no cell phone can sych to Outlook without a file transfer software in the middle, Motorola's version of that is called Motorola Phone Tools.
It basically does this:
Motorola Phone Tools software lets you download and store contact names, addresses & phone numbers, photos and ring tones between your cell phone & your computer.
Froogle it! End of story.
urr welcome...

Hm... I like sliders... I like Motorola's new OS at least a little better than the old one, even though the font rendering is still a little on the ugly side... I might have to pick one up. The only problem that I have is the flat keypad that I'm not too keen on, I prefer the raised ones like on the ROKR or the original L2.
