S'more Sony Ericsson W880i eye candy, specs
The gig's up, Sony Ericsson; everyone's scooped this thing, and you've no option but to come clean at this point. While there's still no telling when exactly the W880i "Ai" is gonna go official, we've seen it from pretty much every conceivable angle now, and Russian site MobileLife has published some possible specs brought over from Esato. We could be looking at tri-band GSM plus UMTS (presumably on the 2100MHz band only), a QVGA display, 2 megapixel camera, and Memory Stick Micro slot -- all of which are believable enough, though we think it's genuinely inexcusable at this point for a halo model from any major manufacturer like this to come equipped without quadband GSM, if not tri-band UMTS. That's alright, folks, we don't want your love anyway... we're not sold on the Ai's styling quite yet. Maybe the next batch of spy shots'll clear it up for us?

Honestly, how much extra does it cost them to add the GSM 850 band to a phone? Under a dollar? Even if no US carrier is willing to sell the phone, and even ignoring the unlocked market, GSM 850 would at least be a benefit to Europeans who travel to North America to get optimal reception. It just baffles me that even high-end, $700+ phones like the Nokia N93 don't include this frequency.

I actually bought this phone 2 weeks ago from http://www.cellswholesale.com, but I unfortunately found out after my purchase that the phone is tri band and does not work well in Texas...Good thing is CellsWholesale has a good return policy so I can exchange it for a "Quad Band" Phone. I do not know why all phones arent quad band, if quad bands work in tri band and quadband areas, but tri bands dont work in qudband areas, then why make tri-band phones?

tri-band? ugly form factor? terrible design?...not diggin this phone.
not to mention that keypad...wth is that...sony ericsson's come out with some neat designs...but this is just horrible. 1/10 for that thing, 1 for the attempt to make it slim and the 2MP camera..............i'm sticking to my W810i

Only tri-band and probably no EDGE... I hope the camera is at least auto-focus! I used to be a big fan of SE and I still think their UI's are great, but I've been disappointed with this tri-band no EDGE stuff lately.

frankly speaking, looking at the spyshots on the screen and the ui and stuff, it seems unlikely that the screen runs out at qvga. looks like 128x160 to me, lol, what with jagged font and stuff. somehow, it keeps shouting lowend to me.

this phone actually feels really good in your hand. The material on the back is probably one of the best feeling on any consumer electronic I have ever felt.
the screen is extremely high resolution

why does it seem like some person with a lot of time on their hands has actually fabricated this phone in a workshop, and that this is not the real deal?
I mean, look at the screen, the filleted cuts at the bottom are slightly larger than the width of the screen, leading to ugly cutting errors!
I mean, sony would do better than this!

I dont know how some people can make such finalised decision on an object they have never used... That said i can agree slightly with comments on the looks, but again shots are pretty shit contrast wise and sony have so much more left in the bag... its not like this is the last one and only phone they will sell... (check all the phones they release in japan and as concepts).
Their will be more! My w810i with 4gb stick serves me so well for tv episodes, music and panoramic pics (so sweet) for over a year now already - anything up is a plus... i personally have no problem waiting (and mayabe a second handset as the n93i hmmmmmmm).

Personally im seriously considering buying the w880i and have found reviews/ video etc at one site which was helpful Sony Ericsson W880i but still holding out for my next paycheck - its a pipedream.
