It may not be
Chocolate -- but in terms of style, the
VX9400 isn't very far off. From the pictures, we'd thought that this was going to be one heavy, wide, unusable disaster of a handset, but we were dead wrong on every count. The phone can be used against the ear whether open or closed (obviously crucial for easy access to the keypad and quick taking of a call while watching TV), the pivot is smooth, and the glossy black top contrasts nicely with the silver bottom. The MediaFLO-based VCAST TV service, announced during the press conference today, is fully functional on the phone; we caught wind that Vegas and Seattle are fully live (among other markets) so it seems reasonable for Verizon to meet its goal of launching before the quarter's out. The video was smooth and quick to load, and the interactive guide (which loads via the FLO link) seemed well laid out. Click on for more pictures!

I own this phone and need to send my pics I took to my email and I have NO idea how to do this. Anyone care to send me an email on how to? I need the pics immediately. Thanks...
Meranda @ Jun 13th 2008 7:36PM
All you have to do is type your email address in the recipient box of a text message and send the pictures to your email like you would send a text message.

Brad @ Jan 7th 2007 6:24PM
pretty slick looking...except for the verizon UI and the ugly antenna
Vitor @ Jan 9th 2007 1:39AM
Nice looking phone but i have a few very important questions about the service.
Does it cost anything extra?
Is it included if you subscribe to VCast?
Is the antenna for the mediaflo or for coverage in general?
Do you need to be in and EV-DO enabled area?
i got plenty more but these sounded like the most important
Thanks Guys!
elgee02 @ Jan 7th 2007 11:33PM
The antenna is obviously to pick up the MediaFlo and is fully retractable... no big deal there.
AK @ Jan 7th 2007 10:22PM
We had a cordless phone with an antenna like that...in 1989.
Russell Hailwood @ Jan 8th 2007 4:47PM
There is nothing that can be done about the size of the antenna. Most likely, the waves over which the information is carried are just about the same size as that antenna...that's how it works with the rabbit ears
Tyler @ Jan 8th 2007 12:12AM
HAha. If you look at the close up picture, theres a phone number! Lets harass them for this phone!
elgee02 @ Jan 9th 2007 5:48AM
The antenna is for MediaFlo only, and it has NOTHING to do with EV-DO coverage. MediaFlo is aired on a separate network run by Qualcomm.
eric @ Jan 14th 2007 9:41PM

nick @ Jun 20th 2007 12:24PM

eww why is the antenna so longggg
elgee02 @ Mar 4th 2007 6:12PM
As if it wasn't already plainly obvious td, the antenna is ONLY for the MedioFLO based V Cast TV service. So if you aren't using or needing the TV coverage the antenna easily retracts to be hidden, not a big deal at all.
tony @ Mar 26th 2007 2:44AM
when calling does it have to stay open? if it is then im not buying this but if it can work while its closed then im buying one
JJ @ Apr 3rd 2007 7:09AM
Just got this phone yesterday and its very nice. I really wasn't all that sold on it from what I had seen of it online but in hand its very nice. For Tony's question you have to open it to dial using the keypad but not from your call list and when you do have to dial it in you just flip it back after hitting send. You do have to keep it open to do the web but not V CAST. And the TV feature does cost extra, its an additional $10 a month on top of the V PAK $15 package or $25 a month to do the math for you. TV is not in my area yet so can't give a report on that yet but the V Cast is very nice with the screen. Camera is nice at only 1.3 MP but takes good pics at that. And carry a micro fiber rag with you to wipe the screen. Also the antenna has nothing to do with phone reception or web/V CAST functions, only the TV so it isn't that bad and it hides away clean. I would recommend this phone so far to anyone that wants a multi-media phone.

This is really a great phone. I am surprised how well the streaming works for the TV. :)

Look how you type... And you can't get into a contract? Go fig. HA!
jholla @ Jun 14th 2007 7:28PM
well now that is out, Im getting it. I read somewhere that you dont have to have the antenna up, its only if you are getting a weak signal you would need to pull that long pole out, geez that thing is long. i cant look cool with that thing sticking so high in the air. Good thing i live in a major city>
Mojuba @ Jul 25th 2007 12:38PM
FYI, the Mobile TV aspect of this phone DOES NOT support Bluetooth.
While all the other aspects of this phone support A2DP, you need to actually plug in wired headsets to listen to the TV, unless you want the world to hear it out of your speakerphone.
Verizon will not be updating this with a software release, to the users they misrepresented about it's capabilities, there will be class action lawsuit in the works.
BEWARE!
