BlackBerry 8800 in the wild
Now that RIM's gone and whetted our appetites for fashion-conscious business phones with the Pearl, the logical next step is a full QWERTY equivalent for the SureType haters in the crowd. That model would be the 8800 -- a handset that holds onto all the modern luxuries of the aforementioned 8100, while tacking on the requisite additional keys to make it a true CrackBerry in every sense of the word. A HowardForums member has gone out on a limb to grace the world with the first live shots of the 8800 (which he actually identifies as the "8900c" -- we'll have to see if that name sticks), looking pretty much as hot as we'd expected it to. It seems like every subsequent RIM release brings the BlackBerry closer and closer to the consumer mainstream; if anything, this one looks like it might be a smidge too thick to conveniently pocket, but we'll just have to reserve final judgment until we get our paws on the beast. Cingular, T-Mobile, care to pick this one up on the double?

If he identifies it as the "8900c" one would assume that's a Cingular model number based on the Blackberry name's of the past.

Its not 3G so I won't be picking it up. Otherwise I would be all over it.

wheres the camera?
and the interface/theme is cingular so i guess the c really does mean the phone is for Cingular. I don't care as much about the 3G as I do about the camera. SureType is the only thing stopping me from gettin the Pearl. I guess my 8700c will have to do

I'm no crackberry fan. Call me WM5 or even Palm fanboy, but I'll give my 2 cents on the whole thing regarding phone thickness here since it
was brought up again. I think smartphones like the crackberry or WinMo and Palms out there have to have a certain amount of thickness in order to be comfortable. I don't see how a thin phone would be
comfortable for typing or doing any of the many functions these smartphones afford us to. Anybody agree?
BTW, I just tried a Blackberry Pearl and I didn't like it. I didn't see what the big deal was. Felt kind of delicate or cheap in the hand. Like it wouldn't last for long. Plus the typing program used was kind of lame.

Just an FYI the thread in howardforums has been deleted per request of the OP. We apologize for any inconvenience.

well of course it was deleted...that picture was clearly taken in a former blue store as evidenced by the SIM card reader in the background and the faux wood linoleum...

To an extent, I agree, apeguero. I have the 6700 and I get teased about it's size by my friends all the time, but I really don't mind it. I find it very comfortable to hold while typing and when in a call. So as long as I like it, I don't care what they think.
I've used the 8525, though, and do like it a bit more because it is just a tiny bit thinner. Hopefully the 6800 will be thinner than the 6700, but not by much.
