MySpace, Helio. Helio, MySpace. They just sorta sound right together, do they not? MySpace has been one of Helio's major pushes from day one, even going so far as to let MySpace members
forgo the typical contract when signing up for service. Problem is, Helio is about to lose its exclusivity clause with MySpace, and you can bet your bottom dollar other carriers are rearing to get in on that lucrative demographic. No worries, Helio fans -- the funky lil' MVNO has another ace up its sleeve. The next generation of MySpace Mobile will be coming to Helio handsets shortly as a no-cost download, and it looks to be a pretty comprehensive revamp (and more importantly for Helio, it's a Helio exclusive). First and foremost, MySpace Mobile v.2 (as it's being called) will be a dedicated app rather than using WAP to do its deeds, which translates to a considerably richer experience and faster operation -- up to five times faster, we're being told. It'll also have new goodies to edit users' profiles, upload pictures quicker and easier, and run in an idle mode from the home screen for getting alerts and the like (similar to Helio On Top). Look for MySpace Mobile v.2 to make its grand entrance in early January --
along with a certain Pantech, perhaps?

What's the big deal? I have Cingular and I get to myspace from Opera Mini 3.0

Opera Mini does not give you a fully optimized version of myspace for mobiles that looks good and doesn't involve lots of scrolling. The one Helio uses, does.

Oh, so basically they're just now getting around to finishing what they claimed they had before? How convenient.
I had a Helio for about two weeks before sending it back. I'm not bashing Helio or the Drift; they have their strong points but MySpace isn't one of them. The "mobile" MySpace thing was an embarassing joke. When I first got mine, none of the images (not just some, NONE) would render. It was like they stripped the page down to it's barest essentials to fit on QVGA and then were like "Hey, I've got an idea... let's get rid of all these stupid pictures since they just seem to be cluttering up the page anyway!"
About a week into using it, one day they magically started appearing. Even with the images, all you can effectively do is get to your messages and bullentins. The claims on their web site that it's "optimized" and "works faster on your Helio than just about anything else" couldn't possibly be further from the truth.
Like I said, there are plenty of reasons to go with Helio, I just can't believe how much they were hyping the MySpace thing when it turned out to be piece of crap.

Over the weekend my Drift's web browser started acting up. Didn't try MySpace (that was not the reason I got the phone) but engadget and autoblog wouldn't come up. I kept getting a strange error message so I called Helio's customer service today to see what was up and they mentioned they were doing some upgrades to MySpace and other stuff and that it should be up "soon".
To quote a great line from a great movie: "When will then be now?" "Soon."

to be totally honest HELIO is great. to ME to others stated above......they have had the wrong go around with helio. this is my 2nd week witht the hero its pretty sweet...i hope the v2 comes to hero's too.
