Sprint launches Mobile Email client

Sprint-Nextel (the company that has one messaging problem after another) has introduced a new combined email client for several of its current phones. With Mobile Email, Sprint customers can access their AOL, Windows Live, and Yahoo! accounts from their handsets. Mobile Email will also be able to add access to other POP3 and IMAP accounts, allow users to set up alerts when new mail arrives, and compose and save email for later use even when they are out of coverage. With this being a zero cost application to download, Sprint is hoping to increase users' dependency for mobile data which will drive other application downloads. Don't be too worried that Gmail didn't make the list of included clients as the POP support should have you covered.

When is the Sprint Q being released? Pre-Xmas?

Heads up. Sprint doesn't support its phones or customers. Take a look at JD Powers customer care study (http://www.oreillynet.com/mac/blog/2005/06/tmobile_scores_high_on_jd_powe.html) or epinions.com. Run away before you chuck any more moola at Sprint.

I dunno about the Q release, they're saying (supposedly) Q4 of '06, and here we are, and no Q.
Let me just say- dan, that if you've not considered upgrading to a BlackBerry 8703e, give it some thought. The Q is buggy (incredibly so) and the BB is much more solid.
And Sprint's just pulling at straws, I've been with them for ages, but... who cares?

Is this just the old Business Connect that's been available (if not very popular) for ages?
I find it funny there is a press release, yet no URL to access specific information on how to use this. Could Sprint be looking to stir up some FUD?

I have been accessing Gmail from my mobile for a very long time. You can't beat it. There is a newer version of the application which Sprint now has on their site. I will add that I have been with Sprint for many years. And by far, the random delayed text messaging, pics coming in at 4am is a huge problem. And don't get me started on the voicemail notifications. Never get them. Sprint seriously needs to improve on alot.
