Opera Mini 3.0 unleashed
For those of us still using dumbphones (and even some of us with the smart variety), Opera Mini is just about the best thing out there for doing us some web surfin' on the road. Version 2.0 of the Java-based browser is pretty darn good, but 3.0 has just hit the streets and it's offering up some key improvements. Top on the list are comprehensive support for RSS feeds, inline uploading of pictures snapped using the phone's camera, and streamlined connection handling that should lead to faster browsing. Perhaps the most intriguing new feature, though, is something Opera calls "content folding" whereby long content on a page is automatically collapsed with a "plus" sign -- great for long-winded sites not necessarily designed with a phone browser in mind.[Via jkOnTheRun]

This version is crashing my Treo 700p, anyone else experiencing trouble with it? Version 2 worked fine with my 700p.

No problems here on my Nokia 6682. And yeah, its FAST! I am loving this. Thanks engadget mobile, you make life wonderful and a little bit easier.

My Sprint Treo 700P eats it every time. Version 2 was better, it hung ye ole Treo once in a while, but V3 is useless. Notice the lack of the 700P on the compatibility list on the Opera website.

Dosn't work right with verizon Treo 650, reboots the phone every time (on two of them at least).

The first 3.0 release triggered a problem in the IBM Java engine. There was a fixed released for Palm a few days ago.

Works beautifully on my Sony Ericsson W800i...you know, one of the "dumb phones" this software is MADE for, unlike all the people complaining about the Treo compatibility.

Actually Opera Mini is also beneficial for smartphone users, as it generates much less traffic (magnitude) than a "normal" browser, and is due to that also downloading complex web pages way faster.
I was initially afraid Opera wouldn't be able to keep up the up-sizing of the transcoding servers, but they seem to scale performance gracefully.

It works great on old phone like SE T610, as you can see ;-) One of the best java programs for phone, and one of the best ideas in computer industry, and - user friendly.

This browser IS amazing. View the full page then zoom in to a specific section. You even have a little arrow to move around and click on things. I will definitely be using this browser more than the one that came on my Helio Ocean.
