O2 Xda Flame to redefine Pocket PC high end?
Call us fickle, but if the rumored specs on this thing are even close to accurate, we're quite ready to put the whole Nokia N97 debacle firmly behind us. In fact, this so-called "Xda Flame" for O2's networks (read: not us poor, smartphone-starved Americans) has us salivating uncontrollably to the point where we're embarrassing ourselves. Skeptical? Check this: a 3G radio (HSDPA, we're guessing), 2GB of internal storage, 802.11b/g, a 2 megapixel cam, surround sound, TV out, and an XScale PXA270 clocked at 520MHz, all paired up to a 3.6-inch VGA (yes, we said VGA) display powered by an NVIDIA GoForce 5500. Breathtaking, is it not? Sounds too good to be true, in fact -- but we should know some time next year when this thing's allegedly lined up to hit store shelves. Now go back to your 8525s, folks, and we'll let you know when you can buy one of these suckers.

Why wait for an iPod Video? Add extra storage and move DVD's to this device.. VGA.. yum.
Wonder how battery will perform? Is there a slide out keyboard? Doens't look like it.. why can't they include one? In my opinion, it's the only thing lacking.

What, no integrated GPS?!

THIS THING IS DARN NEAR PERFECT. I have lusted after a VGA device with some 3G Radio and Wi-Fi. This is the first I have seen. Yes GPS would be even better, but it sure is nice to see the True PDA live on.
I still use my Ipaq HX4700 to this day because of the 4" VGA. An updated Jasjar (HTC Universal) that is more thin, HSDPA, GPS, Wifi, bluetooth, and storage would be great.

I wonder who's manufacturing this? HTC and O2 aren't friends anymore, apparently.

This thing sucks. Seriously, 2 Megapixels is last year, and It's gotta be massive to have such a large screen. My Nokia N80 already has a stunning screen and Wifi, I couldnt ask for more (other than battery life, but that's a different story).
I dont see the fuss. My iPaq hx4700 has a 4 inch VGA screen that is stunning, but it's also the size of a small tablet PC because of it. Carrying something like that around requires a bag or backpack, it will not fit in any pocket.

And yet another "Asia only" device :-(
Like they need more og them, how about us poor things living in the rest of the world, when will we get nice things lige that Flame machine??
This is the first time, since the HTC Universal, I've seen a PPC that would be able to replace my ooold iPAQ h2210, and the Universal flonked when I saw it IRL.
Truly a worthy compettitor for iPAQ hx4700 and Dell Axim x50v/x51v at last.
Oh, don't miss the pictures from Dinarsoft:

but, O2 is a UK network? :S

Yeah!!!! at last a true replacement for the XDA2 with the same sized screen but VGA this time. This is going to blow the competition away. The only downer is the microSD cards - I will have to sell my existing 2GB SD cards.
I believe the manufacturer will be the same as the XDA Atom - which is not so good as the build quality was not on par with the HTC models. But with these specs, the Flame will be a top end model so hopefully O2 will request higher build standards to match.
This could be a major hit.

i prayed O2 would launch a system like Xda exec without the keyboard part and with all the added functions ... Can I wait till February 2007 to have one?
