Some of us might of had a quick glance at the
BenQ P51 this year at
CeBIT and hoped it would of made its way stateside for release sooner than later. Unfortunately for us, it is turning out to be the latter of the two as the device was just given the
FCC's approval. This quad-band 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 Mhz
GSM/
GPRS device is packing Windows Mobile 5.0
PocketPC, adds
WiFi (thankfully), integrated GPS, and a 1.3
megapixel camera all viewable on a 2.8 inch touch screen display. Standard SD slot, mini
USB, and storage space for an extra SIM are also on this device. Now our only question for you
BenQ, why no EDGE?

It is a year late. They should have added 3G UMTS. That would make it a perfect PDA phone.

Seriously? At a time when manufacturers are being chastised for not putting out enough product with HSDPA this doesn't even have EDGE? I mean, Wi-fi's cool, but what about the 75% of the time when you're not in a hot spot? And STANDARD size SD? Have to agree with Brian, this is at least a year too late. I can't imagine who the target audience is.

The standard size SD means SDIO support. That means that it is not limit to just memory card but others accessories well. Already there are SDIO barcode scanner. And I believe there may be SDIO mobile TV card soon. Imagine being able to watch free-to-air digital TV on your mobile handset.

Wow, no 3G and NO 2.5G? Are they freaking kidding me? The BenQ has bricked before its even been launched.
