Cingular 8525 spotted (again)
Thar she blows. We're not going to pretend like there's any surprise left here -- it's the 8525 in all its tri-band UMTS / HSDPA glory, it was on Cingular's page, and it looks like they're about ready to go. Yep, all we're waiting for is a price and release date. Yep, just gonna keep on waiting. Cingular?

I'm anticipating 399.99.
Anonymous @ Oct 24th 2006 9:25AM
It is $600.00 retail and $500.00 for a two year anonymous cingular employee
Jennine @ Oct 24th 2006 9:32AM
Looks like Cingular redesigned their website over the weekend. This webpage must've been designed to fit in with this new site setup. This person must've gotten an inside link. Release looks immenent.
spiritofseth @ Oct 24th 2006 9:33AM

Ben @ Oct 24th 2006 10:48AM
If you zoom in, it says that it will be push to talk in 2007...useless for me, but still fairly awesome...i will order one the SECOND it is available :)
Codelicious @ Oct 24th 2006 10:53AM
I've been using testing this phone for about 2 months now. Very nice wifi support (connects to t-mobile wifi in Starbucks :) and comfortable keyboard. Very fast UMTS connections!

anyone want to buy a 8125?
this thing better not be as thick or dog slow as the piece of crap 8125 I'm carrying around no.
Joe @ Oct 24th 2006 2:23PM
tri-band? isn't this just a scaled down Tytn?
Ben @ Oct 24th 2006 2:58PM
Joe- I had the same question a while back.
it's quadband gsm and triband umts, have no fear
Matt T. @ Oct 24th 2006 3:21PM
Look nice, And If we don't hear anything on the Treo 750 for cingular soon...I may pick up this.
I love the sidekick keyboard thought

2. I doubt that, VERY few phone are that expensive, especially a 1st [party phone. I am going to say $299 withou no deal $199 with 2 year contract
cellfreak @ Oct 24th 2006 4:41PM
Shame it's running the vastly inferior Windows Mobile OS. Shame, as it would be perfect in a Palm, Linux, OS X, or S60 flavor.
Windows has no place anywhere in this world, especially on a phone.
Josh @ Oct 24th 2006 4:46PM
Hahaha @ 7...
Worst sales pitch ever.
ramon @ Oct 24th 2006 7:02PM
$50 rebate would match cingular's rebate form:
http://www.cingular.com/global/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/RSDL_RSFR_RUTH_RWOR_RANM_110406.pdf
the effective date on this runs through Nov. 4. wouldn't be too optimistic though, there was previously one that expired on Oct. 16 which also listed the 8525.
another cingular employee @ Oct 24th 2006 9:23PM
This phone has been on our price sheet for awhile now at $499.99 with 2 year contract.
gary @ Oct 25th 2006 8:01AM
i see very little difference between this and the 8125. please explain to a blackberry user what this new model does vs the 8125 that has got you in a frenzy.
not be critical, just curious. the size of the screen is really appealing.

You're an idiot.
What phone has ever run the OS X?
Why not ask for photoshop CS 2? How about Apeture? Perhaps C++ programming on the cell phone would be nice too?
What an idiot.
DSmithZ28 @ Oct 25th 2006 2:10PM
I hope that the poster who said 499 after rebate was dead wrong and that the poster indicating 299 was right! Gonna be a lotta wives mad at their husbands over that price! Also, I wonder how many expense reports will be padded over this device? LOL
DSmithZ28 @ Oct 25th 2006 2:20PM
Anyone notice that the ad says optional 2.0 megapixel camaera? So like the Hp, the 8525 will have two models?
Zuye Zheng @ Oct 25th 2006 4:42PM
oh, and as a treo 650 owner for past year and a half and newly converted 8125 owner, palm os is definatly more buggy and less feature rich, not to mention cosmetically worse than wm5. (i wonder why new treos are running wm5 now? wouldn't u look at that)
Zuye Zheng @ Oct 25th 2006 4:42PM
the 8125's camera was optional too for business customers (some companys don't allow camera phones due to security reasons). the screens for the 8525 was also from the business site so i think thats why. I'm pretty sure the retail one for the rest of us will have it standard.
JeShUa @ Oct 25th 2006 5:34PM
Well,, it didnt come out today,, or the 5th of this month.. lol.. maybe friday?
Hopefully it will have less bugs than my 3125.. and will cost 399.99 Whee!!
THEN I get to pay twice as much for the internet. I feel so lucky!
JeShUa @ Oct 26th 2006 3:44AM
"just got off the phone with NBO, i gave rep SKU and he located 8525 and stated they are recieving 2 shipments 1 on 10/30 and the other on 11/5."
Hm.. and I also heard 359.99...
we wait longer pay less?
limp @ Oct 26th 2006 2:53PM
I just spoke to a cingular representative, she told me that on her computer the 8525 was released in the end of september. So i asked her then why isnt it on the website or anything. Then she put me on hold and investigated and when she got back to me told she told me that the release was delayed due to the manufacture. Thats all she told me. Im really hoping this phone comes out soon.
ramon @ Oct 27th 2006 1:37PM
cingular has removed the 8125 (refurb) from its device listing, which was still there as of yesterday. maybe because they know it won't move against the 8125?
Billy Vegas @ Oct 28th 2006 4:04PM
I'm assuming I should wait for this to drop instead of picking up the 8135 today like I was planing to...
Eric @ Oct 30th 2006 1:38PM
The Cingular 8525 will be out early November, and will be $409.99 with a $50 mail in rebate on a 2 year service agreement. The Business Channel will offer an extra $100 off with the activation of Data and Voice plan $39.99 and above.
1 year commitment price: $484.99
No Commitment: $559.99

This wait is more than exasperating !
I feel Cingular and the whole lot of cell providers, with the essential MONOPOLY,
should be held accountable.
Such a bitter pill to wait for a year for a f***ing phone (REVENUE GENERATOR FOR THESE A'HOLES) while the UK/Europe/ASIA are on to the next best thing.
VOIP-you turds !
John @ Dec 2nd 2006 9:05AM
Great phone, good features. A bit pricey a bit heavy but very useful. Trying to find a headphone adapter, the headphones suck....why is one side so much longer than the other?
