I have one, and I really like it so far. But yeah, the built in ringers and wallpapers blow. lol It has really good reception though (on par with my Sanyo 4930 minus the roaming capabilities, and I live out in the country).

Xtopher Robin

Comments on

My Rad Shmack has 'em now too.

strider_mt2k

Comments on

I know all about Starcom. The Slider had a camera, but was one of the cheapest handsets I have ever used, while the Oystr was just sub-standard overall. Since I am actually someone who uses my phone and doesn't care about built-in wallpaper or ringtones, (and there are no ACTUAL ringers in the Kyocera phones - just music, which doesn't work for me since I am not 14) the Slice is built like a very tiny tank, gets more bars of reception in all locations around my town, and has the loudest and clearest audio of all of the VM phones I have used. This one is a keeper.

Tim O'Connor

Comments on

I just bought a slice from Radio Shack on sale for 19.99 and I love it! It's a nice phone for the money. The reception is good and if you don't like the built-in ringtones and graphics the cost to download from virgin mobile is also really inexpensive. So all in all, I'd say that it's a great value.

ANGELIA

Comments on

I got it for $20 off craigslist. For a light cellphone user this is a cheap phone and a cheap phone service. Does it get any better than this? I don't think so.

I spent a few bucks on a couple of ring tones and wallpapers because, as the comments above reveal, the standard options are revolting. Here's my problem :( I am having difficulty getting it to work for my carrier Bell Mobility Canada. Theoretically because they are on the same network, CDMA, it should work but I am having problems getting a valid ESN # that will work with my carrier. Any ideas out there would be graetly appreciated!!!

Thanx

funny lucy

Comments on

To the fellow who's trying to get his american Virgin phone to work with Bell Mobility in Canada -- tough luck :(

Virgin phones are firmly locked onto Virgin's network. And while certain GSM carriers can technically be circumvented by using unlocking software, With CDMA carriers, you're wholly dependent on the company to "release" your ESN to work with another carrier.

Your best bet would be to call Virgin USA and ask them to release your ESN so you can use your phone in a different country. They might. But they're not obligated to.

If you wish to take advantage of cheaper phone prices in the states, you are much better off buying Verizon phones. Most of them come unlocked. (The Verizon Inpulse ones don't -- you have to use their service for several months for them to release the ESN.)

Anna
