Samsung's SGH-i607 in the Cingular wild
Looks like that developer site's leak of the Samsung SGH-i607 coming to Cingular was spot-on. The pics above plastered in Howard Forums are purported to be the latest Q-killer from Samsung. No front-facing camera like we we've seen elsewhere but that Cingular branding is unmistakable. Just to run it down again for ya, this WinMo Smartphone is expected to bring quad-band GSM / GPRS / EDGE / HSDPA data, Bluetooth, MicroSD expansion, and a side mounted scroll-wheel said to be "on-par, or better than those on RIM devices." We'll see soon enough if the Q3 launch date is accurate. Another picture 'round back after the break.

I haven't kept up with this one so much... but I like the full QWERTY kepyboard and screen.
Hopefully it's just as good a phone. I wa looking at the E61 (unbranded) or the eventual 8525... but I like the sleekness of the form factor.
Anyone have any thoughts or prferences of the 3?

Did they take out the Wifi??
On the original i600 that they were displaying overseas had wifi built in.
Fokk @ Sep 22nd 2006 11:18AM
It almost the original

Does anyone know if there is going to be an unbranded version of this. I realize there is a i600 coming out, however that is a tri-band phone.

Yet another keyboard layout. To think about all the info my brain has had to push into long term storage in order to memorize key layouts for my phones (BB 7520, BB7100i, Treo 700w, MotoQ).
Anyone see the shift key on this one?

Got one last week. It's a very nice WM 5.0 phone. 320x240 resolution though, so the fonts on web pages look abit small for the eyes. The side scroll-wheel is abit stiff to scroll and even harder to press... there's no wi-fi either. But overall, a very nice SmartPhone w/ a full-size keyboard. It feels better than the E62 since it's narrower, and lighter than 8525. Very very nice phone!

:-)
Sashi @ Sep 23rd 2006 12:50PM
No touch screen capability right?
Codelicious @ Sep 23rd 2006 7:52PM
To pirco: i got a pre-lease cingular testing phone ;]
To sashi: no touch screen. notice the 2-button navigation menu (left/right key), that's why it's called WM SmartPhone, instead of WM Pocket PC where it has touch screen, and the menu can have multiple keys assigned. Well this might seem confusing, but technically speaking the menu system is a big difference.

codelicious,

Worthy1ne @ Oct 3rd 2006 5:29PM
So when can we expect this beauty to come out?
Sebastien @ Oct 5th 2006 1:16PM
MAN why are these all WinNastiesMobiles? Can't we get Palm or Linux or Symbian Smart phones out here in god's country?
WHY oh Why are we forced to use more MS CRAP?
What if you have strong ideological issues against MS?
Please advise your readers and PH companies, that MS Mob products are crap and should always be avoided at all costs.
The thing is that it would take so little to have Linux run on the same hardware better.
Damn. Get a grip people, AVOID MS for reals.
