Palm confirms low-end Treo, "680" device rumored
We're still not sure when Cingular is going to get that 750 hotness, but it doesn't look like us Stateside peeps will have to wait too terribly long to get some antenna-free Treo action. Palm, in a recent earnings call, confirmed that there will be more info "in the coming weeks" in regards to a new "price sensitive" Treo, due for 20 networks worldwide in a few months. Lucky for us, it looks to be that oft-rumored Lowrider phone -- at least according to the rumors currently being mongered -- with the same form-factor as the 750v, but a VGA camera and no 3G data. Happily, the unit should feature 64MB of RAM, and if it can manage to otherwise duplicate the 650's functionality -- minus the bugs -- Palm might have a nice little solution for those wannabe handheld users who don't need all the bleeding-edge features, and don't want that bleeding-edge price.

680 is nice, it comes with bluetooth too. Had mine for about 3 weeks now, even though it's Palm OS, it performs surprisingly well and has loads of stuff in it. I prefer WM 5.0 but 680 does look very solid to me.

Bah! 'Wannabe' users are the ones who know nothing but blab on about how Windows Mobile is more 'advanced'. And 99.9% of them are use their Win Mob device for Well the UMTS is obviously awesome - but please tell me what else is 'bleeding edge' about another Win Mob piece of crap with the same crappy memory management and sh!it user interface?? I blame the public at large for us not having a more up-to-date palm OS. Why spend the money developing something good when know-nothing morons sucumb to to redmond propaganda? Each and every day I curse Windows at my job for making my life an XP, bug-ridden hell - and now you morons want to make that a standard on your phone????? Bleeding edge my ass.

Winpoo: Blame palm for not having a more up to date palm OS - they're the ones that sold out, and access is still working on a multitasking palmOS. Palm has also cut ties with access, so i doubt we will be seeing any ALP devices in the states any time soon (i hope i'm wrong).
There is no perfect phone, and no perfect software. Feel free to use linux
