ITS A SAMSUNG. How many samsungs have you EVER owned that let you do that. If you hate wasting your time and its really that universally devastating to not be able to customize the soft keys, go back to using your motorola's. The 2 year old RAZR MUST be better if you can change the soft keys right?? Oh yea, and one more thing, i can see more than 2 contacts at a time on my phone... you complain about such minor things for a 0.3 inch music playing, good picture taking, MOTO SLVR KILLING phone.

strangerthanfiction

Comments on Pictures, impressions of Samsung's T519 "Trace"

I thought the phone was great. I'm disappointed that the screen stays lit when charging because I use my phone as an alarm clock in the mornings. But thats really the only bad that I've found in this phone, I even went out and grabbed a 1gb memory card for about $35. This is one of t-mobiles best phones and is way reasonably priced.

Topher

Comments on Pictures, impressions of Samsung's T519 "Trace"

OK #5 it's not like #1 insulted your momma, calm down. The Samsung would have been much friendlier with customizable softkeys. Motorola's, who you should respect for being the standard on which Samsung has been building upon since the RAZR came out, handsets aren't the only ones who let you do that. So do Nokia, therefore #1 could just as well have had a Nokia. Nokia and Motorola are the #1 and #2 handset manufacturers respectively. When Samsung stops making hideous SLVR knockoffs with a big camera attached I'll justify your "SLVR Killer" moniker for the Trace. Also, every Samsung I've checked out lately (I'm not brand biased no matter ho wbad an experience might've had) was pretty flimsy and I hated the X820 cheap looking keyboard in particular.

solis

Comments on Pictures, impressions of Samsung's T519 "Trace"

Had mine for three days now, really thinking hard about taking it back. For a phone this whiz-bang, it has been completely castrated of any potential customization beyond wallpapers and "Obnoxious Ringtone A" vs "Obnoxious Ringtone B." The menu is pink on black. Or if you are daring, pink on white. Soft key is locked on the t-zone. Which to me, sounds like some porno term. T-Zone. Whatever. From which you can download new ringtones. For a $1.99 a shot and NO preview. Incoming text message tones, there are five, no more can be added, and they are all junk. Beep or tone is NOT an option, when you get a text message you either have a really obnoxious sound or vibrate or nothing.

The form factor IS incredible. The camera is actually decent. The LCD is crisp and bright. I like the action on the keys. Battery life and call quality is very good.

Someone, SAMSUNG, T-Mobile or both, has hijacked a decent piece of tech to impress someone. Someone else, cause the lack of ANY decent options w/in the settings menu kills this phone for me.

CMS

Comments on Pictures, impressions of Samsung's T519 "Trace"

I completely agree with #9. I love the form factor but the message tones really do suck. They are long and obnoxious and there are no other options beyond vibrate or silence.

I'm torn whether I should return it. I'm not sure what I would replace it with, though.

My grace period is almost up. I thought I could get use to the fact that there are NO CUSTOMIZATIONS beyond what they allow. I also don't like the fact that the buttons are small. Its a nice sleek phone though! All ringtones that are default on any phone are going to be obnoxious and annoying. That is a given, but these are EAR PIERCING annoying. I can't believe I signed a TWO year contract with T-mobile after having to return 9 phones before (I had a Motorola V360, which is a GREAT SMART phone, but it freezes, deletes files and the reception SUCKS. I wonder if I can still return this phone? thoughts?

Montedr
