BlackBerry Pearl 8100 unboxing

T-Mobile sent us an, um, "official" loaner of the new BlackBerry Pearl the other day, and of course we documented the unboxing ceremony. Not super-exciting -- you'd think RIM and T-Mobile would have gone to more trouble for what they're billing as the "Best BlackBerry Evar!" -- but then again you won't feel guilty about throwing away the box. Click on for the pics.

Side-by-side with the Treo 700p. It honestly does't seem much bigger than a SLVR compared with the Treo.

This thing LOVES fingerprints.

Does it come with any programs for reading/editing Office documents? If not, are there any third party apps that do so?

Very very nice. Would've been nice to compare with another Smartphone like the SDA.

Just got mine on the 13th also. I kind of liked the charger from the 7100. It was a plug in unit with a USB to mini-USB cable. It saved me bringing 1 cable on trips since the USB to mini-USB cable also worked for my camera!
I did get it to work as a modem with my MacBook Pro via BlueTooth! Still waiting for the case, though...

I LOVE IT! Fingerprint-ability and trackball ring silencing be damned, this is a really solid phone.
Oh and to the other Keith (#1), It cannot out-of-the-box open Office files, but there are programs on RIM's Handango website available for download that will.

Dalesandro:
Any way you can post how you got the 8100 to act as a modem via bluetooth?
That would be awesome.
