We've only been waiting, what, a year for someone to release this thing in the US? Nokia's E60-series finally made it to American shores on Cingular, and, well, there's little for us to report. The
E62 is the phone
we've been expecting and tracking for many months, but now with some Cingular branding and a couple of minor tweaks (one being the WiFi has mysteriously vanished. Click on for some obligatory pr0n, as well as some of the E50 candybar as well (in brief: solid, hefty, delicious).

Jeez, those are some seriously vertigo inspiring photos. Im dizzy... Actually its a cool shot.
On the other hand, Cingular E62 is a feeble weeble, and should be the orginal E61, man. Whats up with this? If they are trying to offer a simple low cost BB alternative or something, then OK - but it still sucks.
I am waiting for the E70 to appear in the US - hopefully under T-mobile.

The E70 is availible unlocked at the Nokia Flagship Stores in Chicago and NY. The one that they are selling is the US Tri-Band version. It even comes with a US warranty!

Bah. No wifi? Get the original, unlocked, for only $359. Plus, no silly contract:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't these the first s60v3 phones to be offered by a U.S. carrier. I imported an N73, but this is good news for the software side.

Finally, aside from the N73, the E50 is a phone that looks like it has everything I want (except WiFi because that seems to be asking for too much).
It has GSM 850/900/1800/1900 (source: http://www.nokia.co.uk/nokia/0,8764,92342,00.html#) and that seems to be a feature that is frequently raped from good phones coming from Nokia.
Now if only someone would give me some information as to where I can purchase one...
BiG? @ Sep 13th 2006 8:43PM
Mmmmm....I know it won't happen, but I want the N73. So much nicer than the E50!
Matt @ Sep 14th 2006 11:43AM
...until you try to use the N73's keypad to dial a number or create a text message. Those tiny keys are impossible.

Ask Cingular why the E62 doesn't have WiFi. It's not a Nokia issue, it's an issue with that service provider, they want to make sure you don't bypass their internet access, which would lower their profit and save you quite a bit of cash.
