Cingular 3125 / HTC Star Trek now shipping
So after a bit of a wait Cingular went ahead and launched the 3125 today in line with that September launch grid we peeped last week. This re-branded HTC Star Trek will set you back $149 after online discounts assuming you go for the ol' 2-year contract, that is. And yeah, we'll run down the specs on this WinMo flip one last time for ya: Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone, 1.3 megapixel cam, Bluetooth, Direct Push mail, quad-band GSM with GPRS/EDGE, 128MB ROM / 64MB RAM and a 2.2-inch TFT display all powered by a 200 MHz TI proc. So giddy up dog, just don't tell 'em Engadget sent ya.

Gotta feel the love from Cingular. They don't give us the info we want hence why Engadget is our fav. site. Then when they do suprise us with the release of a new device they remove it promptly. Its like teasing a little kid with a lollypop. I remember them doing the same thing with previous phones. Regardless I'll have to find a way for them give me the phone for free, it'll make a nice companion to my 8125, and in the very near future 8525 :-)

Ordered mine this AM, already got the UPS tracking number. The Manager who placed the order for me said they were in limited quantity, didn't say why.
My only gripe. Why doesn't this phone come with the amazing voice dialing software the Motorola MPx220 has? Grrrrrrr.... 158 contacts, each with like 3 numbers a piece.

#8- Cingular does not do that on purpose. The reason behind that is due to error ordering online. Sometimes it's pricing, sometimes when trying to oder it's not going through, or several other things. This is not just with cingular, it is all companies. It happened with the sidekick 3 when they had the 1 year pricing, the same as no contract pricing and they had to take it off completely to correct it. The 3125 has been on website from when I got home from work 8ish- til now 11ish EST.
JeShUa @ Sep 14th 2006 3:31AM
# 10, what do you mean that they dont even have the version for cingular.. there have been shots of it (8525) and never had shots of the 3125.. There are test phones out in the market right now (hsdpa) and it will drop the 17th!!11!! (I'm not really sure, but I'm demanding Cingular release it then. What is it to Cingular's benefit to wait longer to release phones? WHAT? So people will buy phones from other markets like I did for that gay v3i that I re-pawned ;)..? Tell me this.

Well, like it said it the sept cingular lineup grid, this would be coming out. I am finally going to move my TDMA ATT account and bring it to cingular for this phone.
#2 : Start planning what you are going to say to the rep, as it will not be out this month (8525). They don't even have the version for cingular. The Product Mngmnt Team may have it, but not the ANS group, they are using the European version with the camera in front. Oct or November it will be out.
CingularOwnsMe @ Sep 19th 2006 12:31AM
#11- I didn't really understand what your comment meant, but I of all people probably know more about Cingular then 90% of these forums, reasons I will leave unknown. Cingular doesn't even know how the finally product for 8525 will end up being. All these screenshots, but not one call center has the actually product that are in all the screenshots, but they do have the european version. Thats how I know when I product will be out, I see it! 8525 will be out Oct/Nov, thats the reason why I will be getting the 3125 for the time being. Add a line and get the 8525 @ a great funking price.

P.S. DISCLAIMER*** And I am refferring to the call center, not Product Management. Has anyone received the 3125? If so, what are your thoughts?

This is just to cool! Engadget does it again greatest site ever! I would like to own this just to show how cool Engadget really is.
Courtnee @ Sep 10th 2007 4:06PM
So far I haven't seen any "Star Trek" jokes about the phone like, "Set phasers on stun." I'm surprised. Maybe that's because people are far more taken with the T-Mobile Wing. That would certainly be my preference.
Fernando @ Sep 10th 2007 5:38PM
I've always wanted one of these!! But...I couldn't afford it. =[
Edgar @ Sep 16th 2007 2:18AM
Yeah! I need a new phone now. I am very super duper tired of my phone!
