Samsung U420 "Nimbus" lands on Alltel

Samsung's latest slider phone, the U420 (apparently now also known as the Samsung Nimbus) has found a home on the Alltel network, where you can now get not one but two handsets for the low, low price of $49.99 (after a $30 mail-in rebate when you sign a two-year plan). The phone is the first from Alltel to feature Axcess Shop capabilities, based on Qualcomm's uiOne technology, which'll let you download content from sources including XM Radio, as well as get ringtones, games, and wallpaper. The handset itself weighs in at 3.4 ounces, measures 3.6 x 1.8 x 0.85-inches, and packs a VGA camera with flash, Bluetooth, speakerphone, voice dialing, BREW Client 3.1.4, and promises up to 240 minutes talk time and 216 hours standby time. No word on how long the two-for-one deal's gonna last, so it might be best not to daddle too long if just one phone's not enough for ya.
