Nokia E70, N93 semi-officially available in US
Besides opening their second flagship store this side of the pond, Nokia had a couple other tricks up their sleeve in preparation for what has turned out to be an exciting weekend for Nokia fanboys of the American persuasion -- namely, the US releases of the E70 and N93. We can personally attest that E70s have been quietly flying off shelves of the Chicago outpost (see picture above) for the past week or so; Nokia's been unable to keep them in stock, in fact, though we don't know whether the release was supposed to have been synched with New York's grand opening today. At any rate, the model being sold is the US-friendly E70-2 variant that swaps out 3G support in favor of a GSM 850 radio, and features a black face that (in our humblest of opinions) looks better than its European counterpart. Meanwhile, the N93 is the same ol' model Europe gets, lacking 850; caveat emptor for peeps with marginal 1900 coverage. Oddly, these handsets are both still listed as "coming soon" on Nokia USA's website, and rumor has it that they may never officially be released here outside the flagship facilities, so book your flights now, folks -- they say the Midwest and the East Coast are nice this time of year.

Anyone know if they will also sell the 6282 at the NYC store?

The stores need a website that I can buy from, and they need it NOW.
E70-2 for the win.

#1 - while I wouldn't *guarantee* that it isn't there, I didn't see the 6282 at the NYC store.

I was somewhat surprised that I didn't see the E61 there.
Must be Cingular's impending offering of the E62.
That's probably why the 6282 wasn't there.

Does anyone know if the Nokia E70-2 will be available on NOkia's website for purchase? I'm hearing conflicting stories that it may or may not be included, and that you have to purchase from Chicago or NYC store only.....
I'm losing hope that it will be available through Cingular....
Thanks,

I called Chicago Sunday and they are totally sold out. There are a few here and there on ebay - real 850 ones... and they are black.
I tried calling the NY store, and their messaging system wasnt set up at the time.
I am curious to know if they will ship to destinations outside of NY - I asked Nokias Chicago, and they responded "no, and not at this time".
It would be BIG BUSINESS if they did. Maybe this will prompt Carriers like Tmo and Cing to actually carry the phones people really want.

I have the E61 and love it! But I wanted the E70 originally for the form factor. I wish I could get one as I still want one really really bad, almost drove to Chicago from Cincinnati to get it.
