Here's an update on the Treo 700wx. Speculation on this model has flourished on the net, since late January. The Sprint's version of the Treo 700w will boast twice the memory. According to Gizmodo, the service provider is set to launch the unit next week on August 31. And pictures of the smartphone have been making the rounds, snapshots of the box that thankfully aren't blurred at all. So at the very least, the 700wx looks very much like a 700w.

After seeing the 700wx, I decided to buy a PPC-6700. While I certainly appreciate the ergonomics of the Treo (my wife is a happy Treo 650 user, and sometimes she even lets _me_ put my grimy hands on it), they sacrificed a few too many features for my taste. The resolution is too low, there's no WiFi, and, sadly enough, WM5 is a much better general purpose OS than PalmOS at this point.

It looks like the Treo 700wx leaks keep on coming. Here are the official launch marketing materials. I don't think there is anything shocking about the information that hasn't been covered before.

It's just a rehash unit of the existing ones used to pacify the Sprint network users to keep them from switching. They don't tell you that the new750 is around th corner nor that this unit IS NOT GPS.Screen resolution is still terrible.
When can we have a Blackberry with Windows then w e would all be happy

to Erwos (number 2 above) I have the 6700, and will be switching to the 700WX. I think you have the 700wx and the 700p confused. This new device is a Windows Mobile 5 PDA, like the 6700, so they'll run the same programs. The resolution is 240x240, the 6700 is 320x240 so resolution is slightly different, however it really isn't as dramatic a change as the 700p's 320x320. I thought wi-fi was going to be a big deal for me too, but I find myself using EVDO much more than wi-fi, and I can just pop in a WiFi SD card if I really need it, so Im not worried.
Here are my reasons Im leaving the 6700 for a 700wx...
1. Its much easier to use the PHONE!! Palm lets you dial from the today screen-- either type the phone number, or the contact name... with my 6700 I have either slide the keyboard out (can be cumbersome at times), or try typing on the screen with my finger.
2. More useable memory. 6700-- after I cleaned the junk out of ROM that I didn't need, I still only had about 30MB to use for programs vs. 60MB in the 700wx.
3. More accessories. I really miss being able to carry my phone (I used to have a treo 650) on my belt without it dropping every other day. The treo is so common that you can find accessories for them in just about every electronics store, online, etc. I've lost 2 styli so far and had to wait almost a week for replacements-- with the treo, I would just go to Best Buy or Circuit City and grab them...
4. Treo Ease of use-- Even in its windows form, the tweaks Palm has done to enhance the user interface is great. Voice Mail on-screen controls, photo speed dial, the hardware ringer on/off switch, and a DOT ON THE SCREEN WHEN YOU ARE IN CAPS/NUMBER MODE on the keyboard... on the 6700 all of this is greatly missed!
So I urge you to just pop into a sprint store and compare the 2 devices when it comes out... I think you'll be happy you did.
To #5 Jim-- Its exactly the same as the Verizon version, the 700w, except it has double the memory. The "750w" is simply a slightly smaller GSM version of this same phone... No real differences except the lack of antenna housing.
To #6 Shon-- Its the same size as the 700p, 700w, 650 and 600. and smaller than most other pocket pc phones with simalar feature sets/...

To the comment "when can we have a Blackberry with Windows Mobile..." The Blackberry is a glorified phone with limited processing capabilities and even more limited feature capabilities. Even the future ones with cameras are pathetic, it would be a waste of OS, palm has always produced better sized and more well rounded (processor, display, SDIO, an expansion slot period) and if I bring HTC into the Gammit Blackberry's so done it's been served and the leftovers have been gone for a week. The only thing the Blackberry could compete with is samsung pda's, and the sanyo 2100 could compete with samsung pda's. So really...
