If we haven't been inundated with enough information about the BlackBerry
8703e for Verizon Wireless, here comes some more of the usual business. August 28th came and went with no official announcement, so could this be light at the end of the tunnel? Here we see the latest Data Device Roadmap with 8703e with a release date of 09/01/06. With all the hype built around this device, we're hoping that they follow through on this one -- guess we'll find out for sure this Friday!

Is there any reason why that document says "2005 Key Milestones" instead of 2006?

Personally, I'll believe it when I see it.

any news on whether it will be CDMA/GSM?

CDMA only. The big question is if the phone will really come out this Friday.... Seems like a strange day of the week for Verizon to launch, but hey you never know.

Any word if Nextel ever plans to update their Blackberry's? I am still using 7520.

don't expect the 8703e to be avalible in the stores for at least a month... as for getting your hands one one of these.. it can be had. Full retail (450$) it is the 8703w (world phone) gsm/cdma and edge/EVDO. Global rental is the only way to purchase it.
