Cingular's belated V3i getting ready to ship?
Who woulda thought Cingular would have so much trouble getting Moto's little ol' (emphasis on ol') V3i out the door? Well, they have; rumored release date after rumored release date has gone by without so much as a peep from corporate on the matter. We're at the point now where far more exciting things lie on the radar in Cingular's pipeline, but for folks just looking to to replace a RAZR with another RAZR -- and we know you're out there -- the V3i still holds a lot of promise. So where is it? Amazon seems to think they know, claiming they'll have 'em ready to ship in 1 to 2 weeks. Rumor has it these things may be bundled with a 512MB microSD card, but with the infamous track limit in place, we might recommend something other than iTunes content to fill it up.[Thanks, John]

Is there a hack for the flex version of this phone, I want to put it on my imported v3i?

As much as I like Cingulars coverage, I got so tired of waiting for them to release the Sony Ericsson W810i, I just said screw it, and bought an unlocked version. Went to the SE site to auto set it up on Cingulars network, works perfectly. I don't know what it is about Cingulars branding (or whatever it does to lock the phones to Cingular), but it sure seems to take forever for Cingular to relase a new phone.

Somebody's got them. I've seen at least three people with them in the past month.

This phone has been available for so long that you can easily find it for $200. Funny, that is probably going to be Cingular's contract price.
One thing that is interesting is the 100 song limit is no longer mentioned on Cingular's brochures. Previous iTunes+cingular brochures clearly state 100 song maximum. The new brochures states, "The amount of music your RAZR V3i can hold depends on the compression rate of your songs and the amount of media stored on your phone."

I found out awhile back why these things were/are late to the Cingular ballgame. The Radio Shack and the 2 Cingular stores I interrogated all gave me the same answer. Cingular wants all these phones to come packaged with either a 512MB or a 1GB MicroSD card. There's a glut of phones that have come out this year and are coming out this year that take MicroSD cards, and everyone wants one with their phone. Supply is ample, it's just a hell of a line to stand in as everyone makes and get their various orders filled for cards.
Although I have to admit this is a bit ridiculous. This phone should have been out this past January on Cingular. I hope this little SD problem doesn't befall the KRZR and the RAZR MaXX when they hit Cingular. I was told by Radio Shack that those two should hit before August ends and won't come with MicroSD cards. But I ain't holding my breath.

I ordered the v3i on August 8th from Amazom. Expected it to arrive 08/17-08/22. Got an e-mail on 8/23 stating that the new delivery date was 08/17-9/08. I called to see what the deal was and was told that the shipment of phones was expected to arrive on 9/05 and would be sent out on that date...Phone SHOULD arrive on 09/11 the latest :(

I got my V3i from http://www.sugarpipe.com last month, factory unlocked for $230, got everything to work on Cingular including MMS, Internet etc but it took some time and hacking.
