More shots of a Treo sans antenna

What week would be complete without the obligatory cameraphone shots of a Treo without an external antenna? Seriously, between this and the 700p, it seems like Palm either doesn't collect NDAs, doesn't care when they're violated, or is guilty of perpetrating some of the most well-publicized viral campaigns in history. Anyhoo, here ya go. What's notable here is that we can see the SD slot has moved to the handset's right side. Follow the break for more shots, though if you're not convinced by now that the device is stone-cold real, we're not sure what will.

ok, palm OS is all good and fine, but where is the windows mobile version of this treo? palm os is so far behind right now that it should just be abandoned and palm should go all windows mobile until palmsource (access) comes out with their new linux based OS. boy genius reported cingular has a windows mobile treo coming soon, where are the camera phone shots of that device or even some specs would be nice.

From the photos, I suspect it is thinner than a normal 650 or 700. Can someone do some simple geometry and compare the width of the sd slot to the width of the device in the photo and compare that ratio to the ratio on a 650?

y'know, sans antenna, that thing starts to look more like a brick than a phone. if i bought one of these things, it would have to be the 700w, 'cause that is truly the best treo out there, real or proto.

If SD is on the rigt side, the that means that this will be WiFi enabled? It would be kind of odd to use with a Wifi card popping out of one side, don't you think?

GSM? Hopefully, I've been waiting for this for LantinAmerica for a while...

any news on the Windows OS?

Apparently Palm is unhappy about the leaks as the original Chinese forum had these threads with pictures removed today. One of the two posters who each had a sample of the new phone said the battery on this thing is now 1200mAh compared with 650's 1800mAh so it's lighter but we don't know how battery life will suffer. Also the camera remains 0.3MP. So the only enhancement is the 64MB internal memory. I'd pass and wait for something with significant improvements over my 650.

PALM said it would be integrating WiFi into the new Palms. This is probably why, or most likely why the SD slot is on the right hand side.

sorry. nope. i like the antenna; it gives an asymetrical element to the phone that this THING lacks; plus it actually looks like a palm, not a phone. brrr!

I think it looks great. Nobody else whose commented seems to like it though. For those of you dogging palm software I can tell you from using both devices (700w & 700p) that the p is way, way, way better than the W which is nothing but sluggish...and you have to press and hold the "ok" button to go to a list of your running programs because windows doesn't know how to close them even though you closed them already, wtf. One extra step....and there are other "one extra steps" you must go through with the W that just don't exist on the P.

Its deffo a touch screen on tha, you can see from the 2nd pic down, look at the way it sits in the frame.

As for windows mobile, the only advantage it has imo is the psx emulator, but recently the palm one has received new development blood into the psx emu, so that will catch up quicky. Palm will take a bit before they do another 700 style step, releasing a windows one before the palm. As they still managed to sell substantially more palm devices than windows ones in that time. And as the windows ones were made by HTC then and costed more for software licencing they made less proffit on them.

Glad there sticking to palm :) just hope they release there linux platform in time, or atleast take up ALP if that comes out sooner.
