Cingular rebate forms circulating over the past couple days are indicating the presence of
three devices -- HP's
hw6920 / hw6925 and HTC's
Star Trek, offered here as the 3125 -- and while too much time has passed for us to get too worked up at the thought of putting our hands on any of these, they're worth noting nonetheless. Now, the popular rumor says that since these puppies have shown up with rebates, they're in the pipeline for delivery next week. While we're
hoping that's true, we're not betting on it. Cingular has a reputation for placing rebates on phones ages before their retail availability -- heck, it's not even unheard of for rebates to expire before the phone even drops. So if next week comes and goes and one, two, or all three of these handsets are nowhere to be found, just remember: a pessimist is never disappointed.

I just spoke to my Business Rep who told me Aug 8th is still a "go live" date unless something unexpected comes up. Although they wouldn't talk price, he did chuckle when I mentioned it was listed on the rebate form, basically confirming engadgets earlier statements.
He has my name and number and will call when he knows more. He's been very good to me before, getting me the 8125 before others knew it was even available so he has a good track record.

For months, Cingular has had the 6925/6920 listed on their rebate forms. This is what prompted my pointless calling campaign back in April/May to Cingular in search of just such an upgrade.
I would not take their merely listing the device as any evidence of an imminent launch.
On the other hand, I certainly hope they do launch them, but they're about a year late and $500 too expensive...

/me remembers seeing the 8125 on the rebate forms last October, only for it to come out in February
So yeah, with Pocket PCs, trust the rebate form about as far as you can e-throw it.

The HP has been delayed due to *GASP* problems! According to our supply chain management team, it's an indefinite delay for retail.

What is the latest on this? Is it coming out Aug. 8th? I spoke to HP last week and they said it was going to be released the first week in Aug. I was in a Cingular store over the weekend and they had they display ready to go and had the pricing info & tags ($499 w/ 2 year agreement).

Today's August 8th, still no sign of teh 6920/6925 on Cingular's site.

I called my Business Rep at Cingular who is surprised that the 3125 is still not in the channel. He's asking around and as usual no one knows why it's not yet available.

UPDATE: The 3125 has been delayed because of a known bug in the phone. When left alone for more than 30 minutes the phone goes into deep sleep and will not take calls or reflect missed calls.
HTC and Cingular have a patch and apparently this patch must be in place before we can order the phones.
