Have you been frantically refreshing Engadget Mobile waiting for the next tidbit from The Boy Genius? Are you sweating profusely at the prospect of LG's US Chocolate launch? Boy Genius' latest insider tip is regarding none other than the highly anticipated LG8500 for Verizon Wireless. What'd he dig up? This bad boy will be available on August 14th, nationally. So there.

This phone is on rockstar supernova on cbs they use it on the show to critique performances i dont watch the show i just saw the phone and had to see it in action it looked quite nice, video over EVDO was kinda grainy but it coulda been the camera and then the broadcast but the audio sounded killer that too could be tv but id have to say all around nice if you use cdma i like GSM but thats ur call

Stupid new D-pad, stupid new speaker grille on the back, stupid lack of the trademark checkered keys, stupid new Verizon UI...Verizon ruined my favorite phone. Am cry.

I am not sure about your August 14th date. Stores in NYC and advertisements which are plastered everywhere in this city all are promoting a July 31st release date.

Boy Genius maybe wrong. When I was at the Verizon Store in Short Hills, NJ -- outside NYC for those unfamiliar -- the sales staff reported that the LG Chocolate phone will be available on Aug. 7. It wasn't just one staffer to repeat the date, but a few employees repeated the date to other customers.
