The Missing Sync gets friendly with WM5

If ActiveSync has been keeping any MDA users out there from springing for that shiny yellow MacBook, your day has come. MarkSpace has just gone gold with The Missing Sync release 2.5, adding badly-needed support for Windows Mobile 5 devices; we can almost hear the collective sigh of relief of Mac-based Pocket PC and Smartphone users across the world. Of course, if the iPhone would hurry up and materialize, maybe this whole point would be moot -- but until then, sync away, friends.

works worse than the beta. doesn't let you connect to parallels either. pure garbage.

I quickly tested it out with my T-Mo SDA last night. Bluetooth sync didn't work, but it worked over USB. Everything synced but none of my ical events showed up on the phone. And it doesn't seem to have any kind of itunes sync. I'm waiting for the windows mobile 5 update for pocketmac phone which should be coming soon...seems to have a few more features at half the cost. http://www.pocketmac.net/

If you want a phone to sync with your Mac, I don't know why you would choose a Windows Mobile device. Symbian phones sync flawlessly with Apple iSync without the need for expensive and unreliable third party software.

Eight- how do you get your Symbian phone to easily sync with iSync? I want to be a SE m600i, but I haven't heard anyone having too much luck getting it to sync with a Mac.

eight- probably has to do with the fact that windows mobile phones offer capabilities and features that a symbian- based phone could only dream of. Oh, and those users like macs.

4 - Apparently the m600i isn't on the compatibility list yet, but it's only a matter of time. The SE P910i is already there and a lot of the Nokia smartphones. Apparently you can hack the config file in iSync to allow newly released Symbian phones to sync, but I don't know the details of how to do that.

5 - I've just picked up a Symbian-based Nokia N80. It has quad-band GSM, 3G, 802.11b/g WiFi, Bluetooth, video calling, 3.2MP camera and a 262k color 416x352 pixel screen. What Windows Mobile-only features am I missing? There's even Microsoft push e-mail support for Symbian these days.

no nick, in fact I haven't used any mid range to high end symbian phones. Though, I have looked at them, and unlocked they go upwards of $700, a little too pricey for a phone. I have used lower end nokias, though, and while they're good phones they are nowhere near as capable as "smart" devices as any windows mobile based phone.
xbit- how about GPS (bluetooth or built in)? how about tri band umts and hsdpa (in the new htc hermes)? how about vga screens? how about the fact that there are no evdo symbian phones (only the palm 700p, which like other treos, has reset problems)
I am not saying that symbian smart phones are bad, mind you, but that people seeking smart phones have a choice, and there is no use saying why would you want a windows mobile phone (if you have a mac, that is). and I was simply stating that some people will find the features of windows based phones useful (whereas some will not)

I have owned and used the highest-end Symbian phones.

And although they have some nice features, they're the reason I own and stick with WM5 phones now.

I have had SE P800 / P900 / P910 and they were great. I've waited ages for the P990, and I got bored. I ended up with an O2 MiniS (HTC Wizard).
I returned the phone to the shop within a week as the call quality was so bad, and the replacement is just as bad. It's a really slow phone, and generally I think WM5 is quite poor.
Missing Sync does a great job of keeping my Mac and phone updated, but as soon as SE release the P990, it'll be on Ebay.

Use Novamedia it allows to use most symbian phones via isync I beleive it is Novamedia.com or just google it
