Sony Ericsson's P990i gains FCC approval
Announced way back in October, that Sony Ericsson P990i just got tagged with the FCC's good housekeeping seal of approval. With that out of the way, we might actually see this tri-band GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900 with UMTS (2100) handset with Symbian OS 9.1 / UIQ 3 Stateside sometime in Q1, Q2, Q3 after the 2100MHz spectrum comes off the auction block and into the greedy little hands of your fave (or not so fave) wireless provider. And with a 2.8-inch touchscreen, 802.11b WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, 2 megapixel cam, media player, QWERTY keypad, and suite of corporate email connectivity options, well, we're guessing that even with all the delays, you might still care.

The Sony Ericsson P900/P910 was the best PDA phone ever. It was the only PDA phone that I have ever owned that worked great as a phone.
I can't wait for this one, especially if the camera is as good as the one on the K750i!

Still dont believe it even comes CLOSE to the nokia E61 I have had for a month the BEST PDA/Smartphone/Whatever you want to call it. P990's only thing over the E61 is a camera which I have no need for; but ever thing else from the quad-band to the 802.11g WiFi not to mention the blackberry connect!!! ;) NOT even in the same class!

The Sony Ericsson P990 is an awesome phone but without EDGE, quad-band or wireless G, the Nokia E61 or Nokia N80 (which I have now) are better choices, at least in the US.
Same with the Sony Ericsson K800. Great phone but the Nokia N73 will be a better choice! I used to be a hard-core Sony Ericsson fan but I've changed my mind...

i hope that thing's restrained so it can't run away from the fashion police, 'cuz it's FUGLY! i don't get why people want a phone that looks like it was carved out of some rock by someone who has no design talent (other than being able to smooth corners on rectangles). at least nokia phones look nice as well as kick a**! and even the most basic nextel phone manages to look better than that. plus, y'know, the specs suck for those of us oranges (not by choice) who have only 850 coverage near us.
