The Boy Genius Report: HTC Hermes & StarTrek, and iPAQ hw6920 coming to US

If this latest Boy Genius scoop is correct, then Cingular's also launching a slew of Windows Mobile phones this summer, some less surprising than others. The HP iPAQ hw6920/25 was more or less expected any time now, and should have WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, EDGE data, and MSFP / AKU2, as expected (you probably already knew the rest). The HSDPA-equipped HTC Hermes is also making its way to these shores, not exactly to the surprise of anyone at Engadget who've been expecting this phone on Cingular for quite some time -- but all the same it's pleasant knowing we'll finally wrap our mitts on a Hermes of our own some time in the September / October range. But what we weren't expecting (at least not so soon) was Cingular to launch the HTC StarTrek in August / September, which will quickly shame all you early adopters and RAZR-haters who wanted to get their hands on an import as quickly as possible. Keep an eye out for further details as we snag 'em.

Hey BG, that StarTrek is sweet aint it? I er, know, um, someone that has been testing it for about a month now. And that hw6925 with GoodLink is sweet! Um, er, he is testing that one too. Aint phones that use SIM Cards cool?
That guy, the phone tester that I know, love’s sporting a different, never before seen test phone each day. I wish he would shuffle some of the leftovers my way to try before they go live ;^).. Just slide that SIM in with my own number and away I go (same phone number, different phone each day no less)! Sweeeeeet!!

Just like you have FCC Friday's, You should have Boy Genius Tuesday's. The Boy Genius is my favorite scoopster, much better than the FCC, because in all respects, FCC leaks aren't really leaks, so technically are they scoopsters?.

Will the Hermes be branded under Cingular? HTC just announced that it would have its own brand, and that carriers would no longer be able to brand their devices under their own brand. The black TyTn looks hot :) . I like black :) .

so i guess the n80 got dropped from cingular's lineup. a cingular branded version been fcc approved for months now. closure would be nice.
im glad the hermes will be launching so soon. this means ill be able to pick up an 8125 on the cheap.

I actually are testing these phones. The HP 692x and Star Trek are cool WM 5.0 phones. I'm able to go Wi-Fi and do streaming on it. The connection is auto-detect. So if you are on USB (active sync), or Wi-Fi, or GPRS, or Bluetooth, it knows and it switches with minimal efforts. The Star Trek is so slick that I ditched my V3 completely. Light and hi-res screen, the Star Trek looks cooler than ever.
Also I have the Nokia E62 on hand. Very nice phone, smooth screen, with Safari browser. Works extremely well. Though no wifi, it's pretty good over GPRS and I was able to config it with my t-mobile $5.99/mo cheap data plan.

Nothing beats a supercharged 8125 with UMTS/HSPDA!! I have been waiting for this phone for a long time, all I need now is for Cingular to turn on UMTS/HSPDA here in the greater Tampa Bay area and I will be golden :D

The hw6920/6925 looks more attractive to me with the built in GPS. Do you think the HTC Hermes is a better choice considering screen size and all?
