QWERTY smartphone fans on GSM carriers, cautiously rejoice: our Italian is admittedly a little rusty, but Italy's Cellulare Magazine seems to be reporting some unconfirmed, wildly speculative deets regarding the forthcoming (
?) GSM Q. Not only might it drop in time for Christmas (in Europe, anyway), but when it does, it might be bearing gifts of WiFi and HSDPA for its patient buyers -- up from the previously reported plain-vanilla
UMTS -- while maintaining the same lovely form factor. They're also reporting the device will rock quad-band GSM, meaning anxious North Americans should have little trouble jumping the gun if it launches in Europe first. Of course, if the HSDPA support doesn't come in all the right bands, the US will get left out of the 3G fun and we might just end up with another
E61 / E62 debacle, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Judging by this CDMA release, the GSM version will in fact be there by Christmas... 2009

HAHA... good one Bernie... but hey, if the CDMA version is this cool, then the GSM version can only be better.

Why bother? The Nokia E61 and Sony Ericsson M600i are both out now, with the Samsung i320 to follow shortly. The E61 and M600i already have 3G and the E61 has b/g WiFi too.
By the time the Q reaches Europe it will be seriously dated.

Way to go Moto! Including wifi to the GSM Q: nice way to take a dump on all us CDMA users--although, for the most part I'm glad it's mostly affecting Verizon and their exclusivity deal. That's what you get for being an early adopter. Ha!
And if it's by Christmas, that's just in time when my Sprint contract runs up, and I just may consider jumping ship.

Heck yes.. if this is true, then I will most likely be replacing my MDA with a Q...

@eight
So where exactly might one pick up a e61/e62? Even if it's out, it's no good to me if I can't get it.

Try expansys.com or play.com. Both websites have it in stock.
It's also available on Vodafone right now too.

The E61 is incredible. I love this phone: best I've ever had. You can buy one for around $350 on Ebay. Use fonegrabber.com to look for the best prices. Check out my-symbian.com or howardforums for excellent reviews.
