Pantech C300 drops on Cingular, sort of
Cingular customers can now run out and grab the freakishly small Pantech C300 clamshell (which reminds us vaguely of Zoolander), but there's a catch: you have to be on GoPhone, Cingular's prepaid service. That's alright, postpaid customers aren't missing much -- other than the unusual size (2.72 x 1.69 x 0.76 inches closed), the C300 doesn't have much going for it. Tri-band 850/900/1900, VGA camera, and an MP3 player round out the feature set. Available now for $119.99.

I want one! Finally a small form factor! Are you sure this is only a prepaid phone? I see it on Cingular's website for postpay customers too. I will have to check that out.

Joe, what zipcode did you see it on cingular's site for? I couldn't see it on their site.

FWIW, I saw this in a Cingular store this past weekend (June 3, 2006). It was just a display but they said they expected their first shipment of them in a couple of weeks. They also seemed to think it COULD be used on a contract, but if they're going to be offering a pay-as-you-go data plan in addition to the pay-as-you-go phone plan, I'll probably be better off with that.
I've been wanting a truly pocket-sized phone since forever - one that not only fits in my pocket but doesn't make it bulge out. Looks like I may have one soon.
I've never been a Cingular customer, but this may bring me over.

I bought one of these phones through Cingular and you can use it with a regular 2 year contract. It is a very cool phone and I like the reception it gets.

purchased c300 phone today. this phone is garbage. photos come out too dark, speaker phone is full of static. I can not hear a single word that is being said. talk time is about 2 hours, not close to three as advertised.

I agree with #8 -- I got this phone and it rocks; the battery life is great.

I had this phone for over a year and it did suprisingly well. It accidentally got dried in a clothes dryer for over an hour on high heat and it came out scalding hot but worked like it was brand new. I also am clumsy and dropped it several times, and the only thing that was wrong with it was few chip on the antenna.
It was a little small for my taste, but overall, not a bad phone. VERY durable!!
