Sporty Nokia 5500 gets put through its paces

Whether you're running, cycling, or Greco-Roman wrestling, the last thing you need is a busted phone. Nokia seems to have a pulse (pun intended) on this market segment, having put out several sports-compatible phones in the past. Their latest in the line is the S60-based 5500, and the fine folks over at Mobile-review have interrupted their workouts long enough to give us a detailed run-through of the device. It appears that the phone suits its intended purpose well enough, throwing in a nifty pedometer feature, while bringing decent splash and shock resistance to the table (the entire phone is rubberized, after all). At 107 x 45 x 18mm and 103 grams, they were impressed with its diminutive stature. Lack of A2DP is a letdown -- but at this point, we're used to it; battery life appears to be a concern as well, but with smartphones, c'est la vie. The overall impression was quite positive, so if you can't bear to be out of reach while you're at the scrimmage line, the 5500 might just be for you. Expected to drop in the second half of the year. More pics after the break.
